I wear bikinis on the beach bit I feel there's a difference between that and my underwear. I'd rather not appear in the beach in my m and s flexifits

If you're wearing a bikini with the idea of being seen in public you've already made peace with that.

If someone you don't want to sees you in the underwear that isn't ment for public view that's a very different effect, regardless of which is more revealing.
