Swinging etiquette

So my partner and I are new to swinging. We have our first meet with a couple tomorrow evening, we are meeting for drinks first then.. well whatever happens.

But what is the general swinging etiquette? Do we bring a gift? Flowers?

We aren't really sure what to do and don't want to look like complete ar*eholes for not turning up with anything if that's the norm.

What does everyone else do/bring?

Apologies if this is a complete noob question, we just want it to be perfect.

If you're meeting at a hotel/bar, then no need to take anything. If youre meeting at their home, then I think a nice bottle of wine is a nice gesture.

If your meeting at there home I guess a bottle of somehow ok, otherwise a pub/hotel I wouldn't take anything.

Where are you meeting?

If we meet at someone's home we take a bottle of wine or similar.

If we're meeting at a neutral location we take nothing but would expect to share any costs

Yep, neutral ground no gift required. If you’re going to someone’s house then a mid-range bottle of wine is my go to - just like you would if you were invited round to someone’s for dinner.

Thank you, we will be meeting in a bar of a hotel.

One more question, if you are staying in a hotel what do you say to the receptionist? Or do you just walk in and ignore them?

my own little sanctuary

I would say just ensure you arrive on time and sober. In my opinion that’s the most respectful way to begin a social or a meet.

Try not to get hung up on anything else just simply be yourselves and conform to what you would expect or hope for from people looking to meet you both. If you were going to someone’s home then take something to drink for sure just so it’s not a one sided expense (just like you’d get the next round if they got the first) but I’d personally advocate for a public meet up before residences.

Relax and do whatever makes you comfortable. If it is a house do then maybe take wine or even chocolates if you like them.

I suspect you two will be more than enough as you are, frankly.

All the best!

Best to say nothing. They will guess if they are paying attention but then hotels are designed for sex so it’ll be fine.

Whoever has booked the room should in my opinion meet their guests in reception. There's no rule against entertaining guests in your room as long as it's not overnight.

If you aren’t staying then don’t go near reception.

Walk past like you know where you going.

Reception would only be alerted if you dither and act like you’re not meant to be there.
