How many of these messages do guys send with literally no thought to it and expect a response?

Please put a bit of thought into your messages if you want a reply

Funnily enough, they tend not to chase a reply if we just delete

My fav is when I ask - hey, did you read my profile?

And they say, yep - how’s your day looking?

Facepalm. That’s not just men, either

So many can't count. Usually rubbish profile as well. Sex with them would probably be just as unimaginative and boring. But hey, aren't I meant to be lay here waiting for them to grace me with their presence

The thing is though, many times I've written a (I think) well thought out message, only to be deleted, not knowing what folk are EXPECTING from you makes it kinda hard to know what to post.

So the dilemma is this, say hi or write an essay, neither is guaranteed to get a positive response, so do we bother going all out or just take our chances with a short and sweet message and hope someone picks it up?

"That’s not just men, either"

Damn right, it’s not. I get plenty of those personality-void messages from women too.

I’m not going to enjoy a conversation where I’m the only one putting any effort in. Pull your weight, FFS.

Yep. Received a few of these messages myself from ladies & couples - or the even shorter 'Hi'

Absolutely not just men, I had to block couples in the end due to stupid messages like that from them.

Exactly, however having a go at single men on this site is the favourite pastime of the “holier than thou” brigade on here!

Never sent a simple "hi how are you" message in my life, never will. It's lazy.

We quite often reply to a message like that. It's the subsequent messages that tell what a person is like.

It's quite a common approach in life off fab too.

Probably just go with what you want to do. As you say nothing guarantees a response.

I usually just use that as a starter of the message, but will carry on writing something a bit more interesting.
