I think many have missed the original point (or i have) which I read as the profile pic being questioned as the one you see when browsing, or next to a forum post. Not just a photo in a profile gallery.

As for the comments saying that this is also aimed at men? Well yep. Because who has a cock?

Of course it's down to personal choice. Everything on a profile is, from the text to the pictures and the interests to the personal details. People can.post whatever they want and yes, women do post Genital photos as do couples.

But neither of those groups has a tendency to use a close up crotch shot as their main profile photo. Not all men do either, especially those that are successful, have creative profiles and have a variety of different photos.

Men can do what they want. If they feel an isolated knob showing nothing of the rest of their body is a good marketing tool then that's their prerogative. If it works for them then great. If they're struggling then it may be the issue.

I'm always amused when these threads crop up and everyone starts claiming its another man bashing thread. The OP was a question. It may have been a thinly veiled 'I don't like cock shot main profile pics so why do men do it' question but the responses haven't really explained why men do it bar 'because I can'. Which again, is true.

Me? I have nothing against a well taken cock shot and its great to be able to 'see the goods'.

Would I ever post one as a main profile photo? Never in a million years. To me is lazy, shows the viewer no personality, is telling me that the profile owner thinks it's their best and most important asset and for the simple reason that a main profile close up cock shot just gets lost in a sea of hundreds of others.

It's up to individual people if they want to stand out or look the same as so many others. But those photos are never going to make us rush to view a profile over anything else.

It won't harm anyone at all. Those that want to see it will look closer. Those that don't won't be looking deliberately but will see it on forum posts and that can't be avoided.
