The lines seem to have got very blurred but although this definition seems right, as others have said its more a state of mind and approach to life in general. However, I have spoken to "single swingers" who say if they were in a relationship they wouldn't share their partner...these people don't understand the fundamentals of swinging and are just looking for a free shag until they find their next partner.

....where the definintion of the term possibly becomes blurred is when 'singles' are only seeking other 'singles'...

Not sure it has to be couples but for us swinging suggests more than one single meeting another single privately regardless of how NSA. Suggests at least some interest in threesomes or more - anything beyond the straightforward single hook-up which people can get in a lots of places online and in real life. Then again lines can be blurred and at the end of the day it's just a word.
