Men who work away in hotels or share digs

What do you do to keep yourself entertained? I can imagine it being quite fun travelling all over the country staying in hotels but do you manage to have any fun? Or do you have to share the room with your workmates?

There’s potential for fun I guess but also can be quite lonely and frustrating I bet

Unfortunately when staying in hotels for work, you do actually have work to do. So although an late night session in a hotel is always fun, not so much when you have meetings kicking off from 8am etc.

But I always managed to party when I travelled for work as I just took clients our on company accounts after meetings.

They're boring, the channels are basic so don't bother with TV.

As good as a full English breakfast is, there's only so much of it you can eat in a week.

People come and slam doors at all hrs.

You can hear ppl fucking and you're not.

So no it's not that great.

where the world takes me

I travel a fair bit for work and honestly most of the time by the time I get back to the hotel I have enough time to eat and then get my head down.

Most of the time I’m knackered from work and usually have to be up early the next day for a meeting or the train home.

It’s far less glamorous than people assume, and though occasionally you can have some fun it’s the exception rather than the rule

Reality is most guys staying away in hotels will spend a good amount of time wanking. Not had to stay in the same room as a work mate, that would be strange for sure.

Phone sex and sexting Kelly is my go to when travelling.

Travelling with work is boring and actually quite tiring as everything is sterile and just not yours. It is hard to relax properly.

Have had a few meets whilst travelling which livens things up

As others have said, usually I'm only away for one night so do most of a days work, travel whilst stopping to eat on the way. Then by the time I'm there it's time for bed.

Occasionally will manage to organize some fun/go to a club if I'm away for more than one night or manage to travel earlier in the day - "trains are cheaper then boss"

It's not the best really. The lack of privacy cos you're usually sharing hotel rooms. So good headphones are a must. I normally spend some evenings in the pool/sauna if the place has one. There is potential for some fun if you've got a room to yourself ,which does sometimes happen

Have stayed away hundreds of times for work and only had to share a room a couple of times. It was nearly always solo trips and they were very dull.

Most of the time I'd get to the hotel, showered, go out for dinner, back to my room, read a book or get on webcam, occasionally I'd try to organise a meet.

There's a lot of wanking involved, but sometimes you're in places where internet is still in the dark ages so you end up wanking to Babestation, feeling like a failure

I stay away regularly with work.. some people on here like that as they’re after 1 offs, others indicate on their profiles they won’t meet people like this, each to their own.

I’ve met a couple of people off here when away, however found dating apps were easier.. Potentially because my face is shared on there and not just my torso..

Pretty much exactly what everyone is saying but I have had a few meets to spice things up.

I did try a few times to arrange to pick up a woman on the way to hotel let her use the hotel for the few days whilst I work then drop her home on the way back.

Of course fucking her every night were away two woman have agreed and want to try this but reality is difficult to arrange especially if they to have work or if I've dropped them at a hotel with no transport for a few days.

On one occasion all set then turned out a work colleague was going to be at the hotel and it got really complicated.

Yup, what's already been said is exactly my sentiment.

It's boring, terribly lonely, tele is rubbish and even worse if the WiFi if crap or extortionate, food is rubbish, and theres a pretty neagtive Fab opinion on blokes who travel a lot and stay in hotels, so thats a dead end for some form of company/entertainment too.

I end up working, or drinking.

I used to travel a lot for work and one thing I remember all the hotels have in common is not enough tea bags and not even enough of those stupid little milk pots they give you for the few teabags there are.

I travel all over the world, for the last 12 years, I have had a couple of meets in Canada, but the truth is it hasn’t been very fruitful for me over the years. Locations I go are quite remote most of the time. It is also probably down to me not having the confidence to approach people in the hotel bars. I have my last trip potentially for a very long time next month in Miami so hoping I can sign off with something. After that my only possible location would be Edinburgh and that will be very rare.

In contrast to most I’ve found a FWB who’s working in London for the foreseeable I quite like walking into the hotel I’m sure the security guard has clocked what’s going on hahahah. It’s a nice hotel and one day I went and used the gym and pool facilities. The sex is great so I’ll keep going back and I’m welcomed with a nice bottle of wine.

A field somewhere

It's crap, I hate being away from my family, I can't wait to get back home today.

As for meets, I wouldn't arrange a meet unless my Mrs arranged it, there have been times in the past when I worked away that she may have thought I was playing away, but I wasn't interested in all that. I'm 100% loyal to my Mrs. Even if she arranged a meet then I'd still feel a bit uncomfortable because I would want her to be there with us(she is looking forward to watching me with another woman for the first time) so that bit, being with another woman for the first time will be kind of special for us both.

Until then it's work, eat & sleep.

When working away and sharing all depends on how long the trip is and who you’re sharing with is often just work grab food have beers n sleep if it’s a day or two but if it’s a full week or two it gets boring n lads being lads there’s inevitable wanking in shower as a release but after a week or more ur so close that being honest about needing a wank is inevitable.

I’m lucky that my work group that I stay away with are all good mates so a wank in room is no drama and also as we use fab when away it’s not an issue for us to enjoy no strings hook ups either using one room n the lads sleep in other or even have fun with the others there

I’ve done a lot of working away over the years and I have no interest in meeting usually.

I do socialise but I’m too tired to be staying up late having fun when I’m working and travelling. 20-30 minutes making a new temporary friend at the bar is about all I can manage without affecting work the next day.

If I were to really click with someone I’d arrange to stay an extra night or the weekend so I have time and energy to actually enjoy rather than going through the motions.

Also as people have already mentioned the hotels are sterile and soulless. If I’m staying on for my own pleasure I’d book an air bnb or similar that seemed a bit more comfortable and homely.

Interesting reading this. Pre kids I travelled a lot as a working woman. It was a blast.

I had a man in each “port” who was happy to see me. I would attend dry conferences but could easily find a charming executive to hang out with.

Nothing beats home but it does sound like it was easier for me as a woman.

I travelled for work for the best part of 20 years and can count on one hand the number of times I met up with anyone.

I have wanked in hundreds of hotels around the world though. That’s normally all that end up happening.

That being said, dating and hookup apps only existed for maybe the last 7 or so years of my travelling time so that may have made meeting up harder. The old days of plugging your laptop into wired internet in the hotel room just wasn’t the same…

My current role will have me back on the road soon, so let’s see what happens.

Usually take my bike to do d local off road spots as most hotels let you kep them in the room. The places I work at normally have a free gym.

My colleagues go hard on the lash but I can't be arsed drinking. They do a fair amount of shagging including one gang bang I know of.

I have had women I've been seeing come and visit me too. Not many like "just visiting" meets on here .

It may be fun for women being able to find meets easily but for me and going by what I've read here, it is hard for guys and I find women don't want to meet men who are passing through the area. To be honest usually meeting is the last thing on my mind these days.

Only the last couple of years I've had company, but still most of the time I'm alone and it can get very miserable. I stay away for a couple of weeks at a time, I work late and at the end of the night I have a drink and sometimes a late meal to help knock me out.

If I'm staying in a seaside town which I usually am in the summer, I will walk along the beach at the end of the day sipping on a can of beer. Woohoo living the life lol.

It's not so boring these days because I pass time looking at YouTube videos and stuff on my phone. I take Sundays off work and that is the most lonely day for me. Many times I've been laying on the bed listening to people having sex next door or directly above me.

I've been doing it a long time now and I can still remember the price I paid for bed and breakfast the first time.. I was paying £12 a night for bed and breakfast, yes £12! for bed and breakfast. How times have changed.

Travelling for work is definitely not as glamorous as people think. Hotel stays can be dull and companies control costs so can be a poor hotel.

Even international travel isn't fun. Still end up travelling on the cheapest ticket/route meaning odd connections, hours spent in airports and foreign TV in the hotel room.

Many international colleagues have family at home and no desire to spend longer than necessary entertaining.

It's far from glamorous. The 1st day goes something like this. Get up at stupid o'clock, kiss the wife goodbye as she snores her head off. Travel 2 / 4 hours depending were the job is. Get there start, you've travelled so don't bother with food. 10 hrs work done, back to hotel stiil no food because you've gone past it. 5 or 6 beers, shower bed. Then the cycle repeats for the next 3 or 4 days.

Trust me. Not glamorous or much fun.

One of my meets was from fab when I was on a work trip. I messaged her when I was in the pub and we met the next day for a coffee.

That was a one off. Meeting women on the move is very difficult. I sometimes promise myself to message someone who I've previously chatted with when I'm staying in the area, but by then they have forgotten about me, left the site or not seen my message.

I usually start drinking in the room and later in the bar. Unless the weather is great and I'm staying somewhere like Bournemouth. In that case I'll go down the beach and drink.

The reality of working away for mrBB is a nice meal by yourself, drinking on your tod and having a wank. Sure I get loads of offers bring on fab, but the offers are for mrsBB in reality. There's nothing glamorous about working away.

"What do you do to keep yourself entertained?"

I used to eat Haribo and wank. It was boring as fuck.

It’s a bit crap really. People mostly don’t want to meet a guy that is “passing through”

I generally just hit the hotel gym or go for a run after my evening meal has settled. Then sit in the bar or my room.

Pro-tip: If you travel regularly, buy yourself a Google Chromecast (or Amazon Fire stick or similar). No more crappy TV channels, and *MUCH* better than watching on a phone or laptop!

Where can you buy those?

Amazon, Curry's, John Lewis, Argos - most anywhere, really! It'll turn your hotel TV into your private smart TV, for Netflix, Prime, YouTube, and many, many other apps.

Can be great fun especially if you plan it well in advance

Or a complete boring time

Had a number of very nice surprises though

You can buy the firestick (or other device), then load it up with whatever murky content you've downloaded from online...

I'm not sure how to do that. I was thinking sports and stuff.

I'm male half of the couple I work away to be fair mostly I find it hard to find somebody to meet normally you'll finish site at 5 then about time you've got in your digs if your there for a week and not moving then showered nipped and got some food it ends up like 8pm maybe 9pm then it's finding people to play with and then if you do play it's getting up in the morning.. although when I am away Mr's seems to get a bit of fun ??

We both occasionally have to travel for conferences and such, always seperate naturally since we're in different industries.

She gets a bit more out of it than I do, she's more socially interested.

For me, it's incredibly dull. Even if the hotel is nice there's only so much fun that can be derived from it and there's something draining about it that means I never have the energy to do much other than have dinner and go to sleep.

I'm away at one right now in Milton keynes, it's not yet 9am and I'm already knackered and wanting to be back in bed. Albeit my health isn't brilliant at the moment to be fair.

Never had to share a room though, that's something

The reality is that "every chance you get" isnt actually that often unless you're specifically looking for single males.

Hardly enough to balance out the downsides.

All the 'moaning' is general consensus that it is indeed pretty boring/shit. Lose days travelling either side, crap hotels, lousy food, claiming back expenses, not your own bed, shit tv, can't get pissed because of early starts/random drink/drug testing. Final nail in the coffin is majority of fab are well within their rights to say 'nobody passing through/here for work/one offs. If you can return to your own home after each shift then cherish it a little more.

In hotels every week but not much luck with meets. I tend to go to the same places so it would be nice to meet someone regularly but it's not easy.

Did it for a few years when I worked in construction , it certainly loses its appeal after a while, not much to do but drink in the bar, sharing a room with someone you hope doesn’t snore worse than you as well as all of the above
