"No. If I never received any physical affection though, that's a different matter."

Although that is what the government expected a lot of people to do in lockdown. I live with adult children so couldn't form a bubble with my mum as she lives with my dad who has dementia. My son in a house share couldn't have physical contact with his girlfriend who lived in a different houseshare.

Was married 42 years, the last 19 of which was sex free. You learn to live with(out) it.

Also drink a lot.

No not at all. While I enjoy sex and it's great fun my life doesn't revolve around it. And I would hate it if it did.

Really interesting responses so far, somehow I expected site users to place much more importance on this. I wonder why most are saying no? Does this site give a skewed view as to the importance of sex maybe?

No. I haven't had it for 6-8 years. Can't remember exactly the last time as I've been pre occupied.

Sex was never a motivator but I know men who if they couldn't get it two to three times a week at least would slit their wrists. That's desperate and I've never been desperate.

I think many people do particularly men. They have pre conceived ideas that all the women will shag anything. But that's far from the truth.

( They'd be better off going to Ibeza).

I think the women and couples are patiently looking for the right couple, woman or man to come along and fulfill the fantasy. But I could be wrong.

I think you may be right. But the question wasn't about fab specifically, just the act. Most people are saying they wouldn't miss it, which I find surprising given the amount of sexual energy here.

I did a year of [voluntary] celibacy during 2019 (yes, the pandemic kinda helped in that regard) and it was fine. I don't think I could do it for the rest of my life though

No, I’ve gone years without and survived. There are other things to get on with.

Might be more difficult if I couldn’t have cuddles though.

We can't get through a day without it and I would say we're addicted to each other. I'm sure we'd survive without sex but it would not be an enjoyable experience

Well I'm guessing the singles can go without for as long as it takes to find the right playmate but couples have each other. It's better to go without than have it just for the sake of it. I saw mentioned here or another thread that there's nothing worse than performing the act and in your mind d you can't wait to get out of there. I've had many long periods without it but it doesn't bother me. Connection is everything.
