My school was so anal about socks when I was a kid. You had to wear official school uniform socks, they had to be turned over in a specific way, they had to be up all the time, even under long trousers. Any deviation meant detention. One prefect who had it in for me made me lift my trouser legs during a kick around at lunchbreak and then gave me detention... After that I deliberately always wore two 'Identical', regulation socks of slightly different sizes. Even though I wore them in the prescribed manner one was always an inch shorter than the other.

They had to rewrite the school uniform regulations, just because of me

Never for M, the idea of it makes me feel a little ill. And just wearing black socks isn't the answer, they wash differently and pairing slightly different shades of black takes a long time.

L always wears odd socks.
