Try wowcher for a cheap hotel deals ?

As for getting someone in just meet in the bar and just blatantly walk into the lift if it’s a couple with you

Single male use the stairs to get past reception then lift to your floor ?

Hope you find who and what your looking for ?

Durham

The honest lawyer has chalet type rooms accessible from the car park without going through the main building. Very discreet and just a couple of miles outside the city centre. It is my hotel of choice and would be perfect for you. X

We've stayed in 2 Durham City hotels recently.

The Victoria Inn has a good family room and you can book for 3 adults *warning... the walls are a bit thin. Nice, clean rooms and a friendly and cosy pub below.

Premier Inns in Durham are a bit harder to sneak a 3rd in to because you get to the rooms via a manned reception. We booked 2 rooms because you can't book a room for 3

For city centre the Travelodge is good as it has access to the rooms from the car park at the rear, which doesn't involve going past reception.

If you want to be further out (a couple of miles), The Honest Lawyer works well. It has the main hotel block but then also has chalet rooms around the car park with direct access to them that doesn't involve hoing past reception. (Have also played in a room in the main block and I'm pretty sure that the staff knew what was going on but didn't say anything / intervene). Good luck!

We love to stay in gadds townhouse, it’s just a short walk into the centre of town and rooms are all stunning!!! Worth checking out their web site, although it is probably is at a higher price point. Hope this helps xXx

The Travelodge in Durham is split into separate buildings, avoiding that awkward moment with reception.

"Centre please x"

Hotel Indigo has parking, nice rooms and a decent bar.

You can access the Rotunda bar as a non-resident without going past the front desk and then you're in...

I’ve met a couple in the Radisson and the Travelodge. Both venues had nice rooms and were discreet for a threesome.

The Side of the Mersey

Dunno if there is one up that way but I’ve always found Village Hotels easy to sneak extra people into.
