Anyone use this? Don’t you think more swingers should do it? A shot every 8 weeks? Any side effects?

99% effective against hiv, even tho we play safe i think all sexually active swingers should be on it, to keep everyone safe but i feel not enough people know about it?

I was on the PrEP impact trial up to it ending in 2020. I had tests every three months which included kidney function tests as thy wanted to check on effects on kidneys.

Since the trial ended I have used it as 'on demand' that is, a few days before and after sexual contact though sometimes that means continual daily if I am particularly active.

I have had no ill effects from it.

Just need the NHS service to get back to me about a repeat, I contacted them a month ago and they should have contacted me within 2 weeks.

it can have side effects (headaches, fatigue), and can affect kidney function in some people which is why they bring you back in for tests on a regular basis.

Its stated as 99% effective not 100% , since prep was introduced here in scotland 4 out of 1000 people on the programme have still contracted HIV. Its also thought to increase the incidence of other STDs (particularly Syphilis) as people are less likely to use condoms if on PREP.

I'm not sure its easy for women to get PREP on the NHS, i know "men who have sex with men" can get it fairly easily but i dont believe women can (the nhs website says "PrEP is available for some people who are at high risk of HIV infection – for example, those whose partner is HIV positive.")
