I remember meeting a couple of people through teletext dating..think it was on Ceefax. Also via Loot, the classified ad paper.

My dad put it up in the garden. It was green right angled iron with a wooden seat and chains that made your hands smell. It'd outlive anything anyone made now I can tell you.....

Ads in a local free paper, you left phone messages on a premium rate line. Funnily enough it actually worked! (for us anyway).

There was also the wonderful Journal of Sex, a porn mag with adverts in the back.

You wrote to them (for a fee) they passed yr message on to the object of your desire (for a fee), then 2 weeks later you'd hopefully receive a reply back (for a fee!) by which time the hardon you'd generated from their pictures had long subsided!

Didn't use it to meet (as I was 14 ath the time) but there used to be a porn mag called Experience back in the 70's which was my introduction to 'contact mags..... what a little revelation that was.... probably explains a lot! Lol!

Phone 'chat' lines - some were very expensive, but a few relatively cheap. Trick was to find someone quite quickly, exchange phone numbers, then talk direct....

Met a number of women using them late at night, including the first one who was 'playing away' while her hubby was at work, and my first couple. It was a fair way into the conversation before she asked me if her husband could watch - until that point, I'd no idea she was married!

Ahhh the first swing was 1982ish after an invite to a pyjama party that as it turned out was just an excuse for everyone to wear as little as possible and for the party to become the most excellent of orgies, imagine my surprise there I was in my best cotton stripy pj's and dressing gown and slippers expecting a respectable and chilled evening to be surrounded by a bevy of baby doll clad lovelies ahhhh that was an evening of the greatest teenage kicks ever

Yep we can vouch for the Loot version of this. With the amount of time wasters out there it would cost £742.34 for each meet with those premium rate phone numbers!

Oh and of course as I discovered purely by accident working in a little village well at least it was at the time, there was that new fangled hi tech means of communication take photos of you woman dressed in her finest with your Polaroid camera write a contact number on the rear then place it on top of a wall in the local public toilet!! Imagine my surprise as a young and innocent man using the local convenience, sitting there reading the often witty banter of the loo wall to spy an arrow pointing aloft! Well having read all the famous five books and feeling there was an adventure to be had I investigated the top of the wall to discover said Polaroid my that was an eye opener for a young man!! But as it turned out the idea was one couple would leave said photo then some one of the same mind would find it and replace it with one of his own then if all parties liked the look then the meet would be on
