Have long term fb that travel up

For weekends sometimes fly up as cheaper than fuel and 8 hrs drive etc

Why would anyone offer to cover fuel costs?

I've travelled over 200 miles for a meet, and it was storming. But exhausting.

And two gals have travelled over 250 miles to meet me. One was lovely and we had a brilliant weekend.

With the other, the click was (mutually) totally not there in the flesh, so we had lunch and she drove home. I felt rather guilty....

"Why would anyone offer to cover fuel costs?"

There are many reasons someone may offer, generosity for one.

We've traveled further, even to another country, though they weren't first time meets but someone we'd met several times already

I’m sure a mutually beneficial meet should be more than enough. Payment would make it seem like a transaction.

It all of course would depend on context.

Each to their own but we would accept or hand over money for a meet unless we were splitting a hotel.

One example .......

One drives and the other doesn't.

The one that doesn't may suggest to put towards the cost of travel as the other is doing the traveling for the meet.

Things don't have to be so clinical.

And regardless of whether or not you or any other would accept, I was answering your question of why would anyone offer.

We don’t accommodate so we always travel and would never accept money. Maybe that’s just us though.

Sharing fuel costs is something some do when you first pass your test at 17 and are at college lol (i still didn't do it then!).

Of course each to their own but we would find an offer or an ask very cheap and scabby.

Kind regards to all that do or would tho but pass us by
