I've often wondered how Swingers networked in pre internet days?

It was difficult to arrange anything. We started swinging early 80s and had to make contact through adverts in contact magazines through the post. When we look back heaven knows how we managed to arrange anything but we did have some good meets in those days.

We dabbled briefly in the 90s and used a contact magazine called Rendezvous. You would send a letter and photos to a PO box, and maybe get a reply a week or two later!

Either through friends of friends and get party invites (car keys in bowls was a thing) or contact mags. Random meets were more by chatting up others at bars

We used the same magazine. Lost so many photos from picture hunters.

I used the contact magazines too, with a 100% take up rate. There were no time-wasting idiots as to contact you had to divulge home address and land line number so real commitment. I was a favourite with cuckold couples coming down here on holiday as their bit of fun when they got back from the beach. Those with kids would take it in turns whilst the other half stayed on the beach minding the kids! It was good fun and well worth the extra commitment.

My first wife and I started in the early 80's. We went to lots of parties and met people there. Once we had our first mfm, she just gave out that vibration that attracted men. I did try the contact column in Forum magazine but got nowhere, and there were very few adverts anyway. These days are far better!

I started in what was a bit of a crossover period in the mid-late 90s. Contact mags were still a thing and I did try them but a lot of ads were a bit spammy. There were some premium(-ish) phone lines from which I did manage to get a couple of meets (one with a bi guy and one with a woman).

My early internet adventures were based around adult groups on a site called excite (also some on msn and yahoo). That proved pretty good for getting email addresses to sort meets.

We started in about 1982. The main problem was most of the ads were fake. You had to pay to reply to them, we sent sent off photos to about 5 ads and got no replies. In the end we put an ad in a mag, we got lots of replies mainly from and only one from a couple with telephone no. they were in their late 30's we were both 24. After days of chatting about we decided to the ring one night. We met up at the weekend but nothing happened but there was some hot steamy kissing and feeling as we left. There put us in touch with others and we got small party invites. where we met new couples and went on from there.

Was it true that a pampas plant meant it was a swingers house. It was just my mum and dad had one and he set the bloody thing. Also pink flamingo in window meant you looking for that night.

I grew up in the 80’s in an area that had a working mens club attached to a huge engineering factory. Sunday night was blue movie night… us kids would play pool, snooker or darts while they closed half the main bar off with a room sized curtain and all the parents watch a porn film.

There must have been 20 couples attend these nights, and my step father openly invited other men and couples round to our house to have sex with my Mum and himself.

Now, this isn’t great when your a 12 year old, but the fringe benefit was that I found his collection of Betamax porn films and lots of mags.

I guess it influenced my lifestyle, not that it was ever discussed with me, but it was a given that when they had friends round and I’d gone to bed, the fucking would start.

There were "contact magazines" with descriptions pretty much like here on here there was a "box" which was numbered. Each one had a box number. Some had pics, some didn't. I can't remember but I think you paid for your ad and you had to pay to reply. How they administered that God only knows.

Then there was Dateline of course, usually found on the back of magazines. That was a legit dating thing. But my mother ran a local singles club affiliated to them.

The parties they had were great and probably made me what I am like today. I was a very naughty teen with the older ladies. I thank them for everything they taught me. I'm forever grateful.

"I've often wondered how Swingers networked in pre internet days?"

As a student in the early seventies it was an exciting time sexually. We didn’t go short. We met at parties and clubs. The internet wasn’t invented but the pill liberated many women and was freely available, mini skirts were in vogue and going braless and knickerless was common.

Many of us formed open relationships. Wife or partner swapping was starting to become quite common especially among students and young married couples and in truth many of us seemed to fuck like bunnies 24/7. It’s a wonder we got our degrees.

We were promiscuous and often polyamorous having more than one girlfriend. I shared a mixed flat and we often shared one another’s partners. We often enjoyed 3 or 4 in a bed and sometimes group sex at the weekend. As a result swinging is very nstural for older generations. Variety is the spice of life.
