Hi..I'm pretty new here and was wondering the correct etiquette for messaging someome..

I understand if a message is read and deleted or just deleted means the person is not interested but what do you do if the message is read but you haven't heard a reply?

Does that also mean they are not interested? Do you never message them again as talking to yourself isn't fun, lol, or do you wait a few weeks and try again? As maybe you just weren't right for them at that particular time?

Thoughts?

If they don't reply it's unlikely that they are interested but we often have people trying again....and again...to the point when if we see one drop we just delete without reading so make the first message count. Good luck OP.

Sometimes I don’t reply but I don’t delete because I intend to reply or am thinking about it. I think you can try a couple weeks later and then accept they’re not interested if there’s still no reply. Some people message again daily or weekly or send angry messages that I don’t reply, don’t do those things, they don’t work.

There is no “correct” etiquette - that said if you message someone and they don’t respond then sending another very soon afterwards/repeatedly doesn’t go down well.

IMHO if a message isn’t responded then just back off. At some point another opportunity will come up and you can drop a message in again. Just play it cool.

Most of the time we respond with a polite “no sorry” if we’re not interested. We’re not exactly swamped with messages so it doesn’t hurt to be polite.

If we are busy with an influx of messages because of a comment in the forum or a status we posted, then we may resort to just deleting.

However if we’ve read and not deleted, then that’s us bookmarking the person for possible chat at a more convenient time.

If I’m not interested I delete

If I open it and don’t delete it I’m usually thinking of a reply this could take a couple of days if I’m busy

Iv had a follow up message that’s jogged my memory but if they keep messaging it puts me off as their too needy

Give it a week and maybe send a polite message just asking if they’ve had time to look at your message

That would annoy me though. I wouldn't say have you had time to look at my message as that would piss me off.

Maybe look for another opportunity to message, for instance a new status or profile pic. If still no response after that leave well alone would be my advice.

I tend to delete messages after sending them with the full expectation they won’t be read. Out of sight out of mind kinda thing

If we get a one word or seriously poor message we just delete them straight away. Any message with a bit of thought gets a reply, but we're not wasting out time with "Hi". If we've read a message and not replied its usually as we want the other to read it - we both actively use the accout so it's only right that we both read a message before we delete them or reply.

I find in the past, when people have replied, it s usually pretty soon after its been read... if not I delete the message as my way of retracting my interest, taking it back, its their loss, move on...

That is the best approach on here.I don't know why people keep checking all it does is wreck their heads. I send a message delete it and if I get a reply at some point that's great. If not it doesn't matter .

I will read a message and if I find it interesting it will be left as read until I get a chance for the hubby to see it so if is is away for work it could be left as read four up to 2 weeks

Started doing that myself now and yes it does wreck your head

I delete ones who haven't read my profile. I also delete ones who are "hi how are you".

If youve received no reply, just assume they're not interested.
