Get professional help (GP) But also face the facts that she might never be the same again.

Find out as much as you can about menopause, find a knowledgeable gp (ask at your surgery which of their doctors specialises in women's health) and speak to them and take it from there.

It's possible she will get back to how she was before but she also be different, still herself though. It's possible that you might have to adjust to a different sex life. They don't call it 'the change' for nothing.

So your wife is going through the menopause, obviously having a hard time of it on some level. She is off sex, because her body is changing and her chemicals are all mixed up!

And here you are, complaining because you want a shag? FFS man! Support her and don't push. The menopause is really hard for some women. The male menopause can also be difficult, but nothing like what your lady is going through! (look it up!)

There is no magic potion, no action, no cajoling that will make her feel sexy and want to get back to swinging. That is something that will happen in her own time, if at all! So stop being selfish and just go back to how it was before swinging, until SHE is ready!

Forget your GP and ask to be referred to the menopause clinic (if you can find one that is open and nearby).

They specialise in helping with menopause and can really help with meds and even testosterone treatments if needed.

Your GP wont want to prescribe any of these and will just fob you off with either patches or tablets to get you out of the surgery.

Google Davina McColl as she is flying the flag for ladies and HRT treatment.

Mr here, my wife is going through it and now on hrt the only advice I can give is stick the lady you love support her and be understanding! Our sex life took a hit and it was frustrating for my wife too! But now it’s returned! Much to our mutual pleasure!

I think we should be wary of seeing hrt as a magic bullet to restore a woman's appetite for sex without first discovering why she's lost it. Of course it could well be menopause but there could be other reasons.

Is your relationship fresh and exciting not just in the bedroom but your day to day life.?

Are you the person you once were or have you changed, become a little more set in your ways, not quite so bothered about grooming or dressing nicely, wearing nice aftershave just for her? (Not the op but all men stumped as to why their 50 something wife is no longer interested in sex).

Are you relying on the old tried and trusted foreplay moves, not realising many older women need longer and possibly different ways of making love?

Are you aware of the changes that happen to a woman's body that can make sex uncomfortable?

Are you willing to discuss all this without making it about how much you wish she was like she used to be? Because I have news for you, men in their fifties aren't like they used to be either.

Also are we seriously discussing medicating women for men's benefit?

On our behalf it was for mutual benefit my wife hated the way it made her feel prior to taking hrt.

Yes, you made it clear that your wife hated the way it made her feel. I think most women do.

Some gp are very good and will prescribe hrt some even testosterone so there are not all bad

There was an interesting article published in the BMJ recently taking about how why all the recent awareness is good, it’s leading to an over-medicalisation of what is a natural process. Most women don’t need HRT but they’re going and asking for it even with no symptoms, because it’s what everyone else is doing!

Some really interesting points on this thread, there’s a chance she’s quite happy with her sex life! If you have no libido then not having sex doesn’t bother you!

As you're posting as a couple, you're obviously in this together. I would imagine (having not been through the menopause) that every lady is different, and only an individual approach will help. Has Mrs (sorry, missed name) been to the doctor? Has she tried medication, or any herbal treatments? I expect there's tonnes of advice on Google, it's just finding what helps the individual x

I left fab as I’d completely lost my mojo. I thought it was gone for good.

I finally decided to speak to my GP when I was barely sleeping and my skin and hair were getting thinner. She prescribed HRT and within a couple of weeks I was back to my old self- and here I am with my mojo back

OP it’s definitely worth your wife speaking to her GP

I'm going through the menopause at the moment, luckily it's not been too bad for me. When it started a few years ago I started taking starflower oil capsules. They don't help with the hot flushes, but they do help with my mood swings.

Nothing to do with being self righteous! But I would hate to think what you would do if she wanted to stop altogether!

"Also are we seriously discussing medicating women for men's benefit?"

Get them on the pill so men can fuck them without condoms.

Get them on a new pill if their sex drive disappears due to contraceptive hormones.

Get them on HRT when they are dried up and grouchy so the men can fuck them again.
