I can't really answer that, as different people want to receive different messages. However, I'm not sure that having a template you copy and paste for every 1st message is a good idea. You can usually tell when someone's done that.

Yeah I get that totally just feel it’s hard to start a conversation and break the ice with just a hi how’s things etc . X must be a polite way to make a start with out sounding dull ans coming across as lacking effort lol ?

I try to take bits from their profile and respond to them in my opening message - can be hard to not fall into a pattern with them but I think it’s important not to template it too much!

My success rate is fairly low though, so probably not the best to take advice from.

Try mentioning things about the persons profile - it shows you’ve read it
