I see many profiles that state, "Can't accomodate, can't travel". I'm at a loss as to how these people expect to meet anyone if they don't want folks to visit them and they don't want to travel to meet.

I wondered whether some of them misunderstood the meaning of accommodate, as in they thought it meant you have to put people up overnight.

How do they get to the clubs if they won't travel?

I always assume they want someone with a house or hotel within the town they live in. By 'can't travel' I think they mean can't go beyond a certain distance from their home due to either not having a car or not having the time or simply not having the inclination.

Personally if I contact someone with this type of profile I make it clear that I would be happy to get a hotel in their area and before that would travel to their town for the social meet.

But like someone has already said in some cases it could just mean that they only meet at clubs

We have can't travel on our profile as we don't want to spend hours travelling to a meet when there are so many sexy people nearby! Also makes it easier to meet for socials. Ms

I won't have anyone round to my house for many many reasons. So, can't accomodate.

I won't travel far and only within a certain distance. So, can't travel.

I don't have my location on my profile to avoid people getting arsey about how far I will/ won't travel.

Often puzzle at that one myself... I've always taken the two terms like this:

Can/Can't Accomm: refers to whether you can use your home for meeting. I don't include a hotel in accommodating.

Can/Can't travel: usually take this to mean won't travel more than the equivalent of one bus journey from home, usually within the town/borough where they live. You have to be understanding of other peoples family set up on this one. Not everyone can be too far from home, specially if they have very young kids.

Just another reason why a 'glossary of terminology' might be useful...

Ive always took it as they expect to be picked up and dropped back somewhere if they say cant travel.

I have can't acom on my profile but in actual fact I don't acom. The difference is that I could but choose not to for safety/security reasons.

It says I can travel but in the text I say I'm looking for locals. I meet for a coffee first to suss people out and won't travel long distances for a cuppa only to say no thanks.

"Can't Travel" means to me don't drive, or not willing to drive, or not willing to travel more than a short distance away from home etc...

"Can't Accommodate" means to me not able to invite anyone back for whatever reason(s), and/or not prepared to pay for accommodation etc...

They may be able to meet locally at clubs, or hotels, or outdoor, or in cars/vans/whatever. However, I usually avoid them as I do not like to do all the leg/hard work myself.
