Summer Outdoor Socials

Hi all

This lovely summer weather has got me thinking... In this 'Post' pandemic world I'm no longer all that comfortable being indoors in groups.

So an an alternative I was thinking of arranging some kind of outdoor SOCIAL events in my local area. a walk through nice country park or garden or Riverside stroll etc. A good mixed of singles and couples

, and a picknick lunch perhaps? Safety in numbers, but without feeling crowded, not all day but just long enough to form groups, mingle and discrete enough chat freely and openly but still public enough for single ladies to feel safe...

Firstly is there a demand for something like this? And does anybody have any constructive advice on how and where to set something like this up? A kik group, a dedicated Fab profile...?

This chat isn't geographical limited to Surrey I would appreciate input and ideas from anyone!

We hosted 2 socials last year post pandemic.

A large one not long after lockdown ended that had problems due to the venue staff being hit by covid so things went a bit pear shaped (but was still good night). To be honest, I think that night was just more of people wanting to see others after being cooped up so long. That ended up as more if a night on the town for people than anything else.

We did a small beer garden one at a quietish pub we know for couples several weeks later in September that worked much better. Didn't want to get into the private venue thing (was a lot of problems there at the time) but ultinetly that was a fun night and people could acctually chat.

We then attended another social in October hosted by another couple at a private venue that went well. Was a memorable night for all who attended is all I'm gonna say.

Anyway, as such soon as it warms up a bit, we will do another beer garden social (in a month or so) hopefully. Smaller numbers seem to get people talking where as in large crowds some people get left on the sidelines and it can turn into a pub crawl. There's no right or wrong type of social for multiple people, just depends what you loke but a quieter, smaller more relaxed one seems to connect more people in our experiance.

So yeah, beer garden ones are good given the current situation we are still in.

It's either that or continue putting your life on hold which quite frankly, sucks.

The idea of a outdoor social come picnic is not a bad idea but you have to remember it could be in somewhat public places

That said it could be done as a national thing with multiple events up and down the country

So how do you advertise your events, and is there a best ratio of singles to couples etc...?
