What is wrong with complimenting someone on the quality of their profile and pics that then warrants them blocking you???

Some people just cannot seem to take things at face value... sad!

Well some may take it as unwarranted attention, and to save any further communication or a waste of people's time, a block is the simplest and best answer for them.

I'll start you off with just 3 explanations

- because there is something about you or your profile that they find unattractive

- because an unsolicited compliment doesn't by default warrant a positive response

- because responding positively sometimes leads the sender of the compliment to think he's in there

there's a whole variety of other reasons too

none of which really matter

the simple fact remains they are not interested in you

take it as a positive and move on

there are thousands of profiles on here

some you may be attractive to, some you won't

I had someone send me what he thought wasa compliment only I found it offensive so blocked him.

Could be something like that. I will always though if someone sends something about my profile respond and say thanks.

I just thought that saying something complimentary to someone was nice and what normal people do. (I even added that I wasn't trying to chat them up by stealth as I had read their profile and saw I was out of their age range) I must be too well brought up! Maybe I should have just fabbed their pics and left it at that????? NEXT!

Think the reasons have been pretty well covered by manc hotpot and cali.

I've got to ask why the "I wuz too well brut oop" always seem to get trotted out by people with their nose out of joint? Is it an attempt to gain the moral high ground or something?

Note to the OP: I'm not dissing you with this, I'm honestly curious as there have been many many (many!) rants by people getting blocked or ignored, normally ending with a manner cost nothing type remark.

irregardless of your good intentions, my suspicion is that the couple viewed it as someone chancing their arm or someone who hadn't read their profile

No moral high ground sought. Everyone on here can behave as they wish with regards to how they manage their profile and who can and cannot contact them. I was just raising the point as a matter of surprise that's all. I really can see why people would block and delete, it just was something I found to be an unpleasant reaction to a compliment and not an underhand or nasty way of trying to chat someone up. In my book a compliment is a good thing, but it might not be in everyones???

I think some people think they're sending a compliment but others don't see it that way. I for example got a message from someone telling me they were local and would keep an eye out "for those lush tits" I'm sure it was meant to be complementary but I found it offensive especially as a first message. I didn't block but I certainly thought about it.

This very subject could very well apply to us with the exception that I dont block people. We state on our profile, "If you do not have photographs on your public profile, please do not get in touch". Most of the winks and friends offers are from people without photographs on their public profile.

It may well be that way on a chat site but not on a sex site like this mate.

On here the only reason for most people to send a message is generally looking for sex and guys are well versed on sending messages in one guise or another that which ever way you look at are still after sex and thats probably how it was taken.

Why not say something like :

" Hi, I'm X I viewed your profile and simply had to write to say how attractive I found your pictures, there is no need to reply as I am outside your stated parameters but I simply wished to pay credit where credit was due ! take care and have fun X "

Its like a sport to some here on fab blocking people .. lol just have to move get in there face and your blocked , I have not one in my blocked list ... and makes me happy to say that xx

they might have appreciated your compliment but blocked you tp save further contact as you wernt what they wanted

ive sent people compliments where ive not been what there looking for and rec a polite thank you back

onwards and upwards wouldnt waste anymore time worrying about it

I recently sent a local girl a nice, polite message and compliment, and all I got back was a foul torrent of abuse and an immediate block. Nothing I said would have warranted that kind of response. I just put it down to the fact that she had mental problems and was probably a complete nut-job!

Don't let it put you off, personally it's flattering to receive a compliment on profile and pics (when I'm on display), I suspect a majority of women on here have a little exhibitionist streak, it also says that you've still got a bit of what it takes and are desireable. Maybe they were guys?
