If somebody has had a profile on the site for over a year but has no verification of any shape or form should they have their profile deleted by the website owners?

What are your thoughts?

How about if we said anyone who's most recent verification is more than six months old should be deleted, how would you feel about that?

Well I guess 2 reasons are it cuts down on the amount of fakes and also if you go to FAQ it says they tend to remove emails from peoples accounts if they've not logged in for a while cause it slows down the site. Perhaps deleting said profiles would help too.

But then of course there is the other, completely valid, side of the argument where some people are just here to browse or chat. This is their right so why should they have to get verified?

Got distracted earlier and couldn't finish my point. There are PLENTY of people on here who NEVER meet - for all sorts of reasons. One of those may be that they are disabled (although there are disabled swingers on here who DO meet) and the whole process of working towards a meet - let alone actually having one - is, to say the least, difficult. Wonder what it is about a profile with no veris after a year that bothers you? Been caught by a picture collector maybe...??? Only you know the answer to that one....

Ah! So it's not just the lack of veris that irks you - it's the not logging on for long periods? And, again, why does that bother you? As for the lack of veris, there are myriad reasons as to why someone has not logged on for sometime - doesn't mean they have to delete their account though.

Oh by the way all, I'm just asking the question as it was put to me by a friend last night i'm neither for or against so no need to go on the attack.

Wasn't an attack! You'd know if it was!! You posed a question about an arbitrary method of disposing of profiles. So my suggest method was just as arbitrary. Now, had you given a bit more info in your OP I could have provided something a little more relevant to your 'friends' question....

Why are you assuming it urks me? All I did was ask a question to see what peoples thoughts are. I never once said I was for or against it and yet you're trying to nail me to the wall on it. Lets relax and take a breath. Jeez all I did was ask a question.

As I am sure you are aware, behind every question lies a reason for posing it..... and as the layers are peeled back you slowly get at the reason behind it. So what was your friend's concern about un-accessed or unverified profiles? I do take the point that their presence just means there is more guff to wade through and sift out when trying to find the right people, but it's not something I would get hung up about. All sites do it (keep old profiles on) as it makes their figures look good. One I was on claimed 65k members in the UK, but at any one time no more than 900 were online.... so the conclusion to be drawn from that is...?

our profile does not have a verification on for the last 12 months .. this is not to say we still dont meet people but i feel the point of verification is to show others that we are genuine .. i believe this has been done by the verifications that are already on there and do not wish our profile to become a log of every fella weve eva met so do not add any more

I didnt start this post because there are any hidden layers to my question! I do not need to be pshyco-analyzed and I had more than enough toys and friends as a child. Does that answer your modern pshyc theory about why I first asked the question?

it would not cut down on fakes at all,

think about it you got profiles that happy being on here a year without any verifications and say they a timewaster like you hope to cut out, but at the moment you can look at the account and make the assumption they never meet anyone as they arnt verified.

now after 12 months of time wasting, the site deletes the account, so now you have the same person sign back up again and carry on timewasting but it says they been on here less than a month.

so now you cant look at the account and see how long they have really been on here and make up your mind if there are a timewaster.

new account or old a timewaster is still going to waste peoples time.

but current verification system at least gives you the tools to make assumptions about certain memebers, that forcing people to delete their accounts would take away

much easier to use a verification only filter

So having been on here for a few weeks with a couple of meets, but no verifications (because they can't yet, you have to verified to be able to verify it seems!)I would be under pressure to target those profiles who can, just so I was'nt deleted.
