This is absolutely me. Cannot be attracted to someone until we've made some sort of mental connection and that often requires a certain level of intelligence. I know it sounds awful but it's just a preference and we all have them!

I'm not claiming to be a super brain but it's so sexy talking to someone who totally gets what you're saying and actually has educated informed opinions themselves

With long term partners, definitely. It’s useless being in a long term relationship with someone who doesn’t enjoy conversations and isn’t on the same level education wise.

For shot term, not really. All that matters for short term is physical attraction.

Yes. I have a basic attraction to someone's appearance. Although even that is a lot to do with the personality their appearance and how they hold them selves seems to portraits. Then when I get talking to someone and get to know them looks take a back seat and I'm either more attracted or less.

This is why I way prefer to meet people in the real world or clubs rather than Fab. Because I can't truly get a good feel for someone until we've talked face to face.

Likewise I'm very wary of saying I'm into intelligence. It is a trait I like but some people's idea of intelligence is more to do with cultural, education and/or their ability to conform to a social code. I must admit I like aspects of these things too. But I value far more a spark, a good wit and true natural intelligence. And a person may posses these things without the background or access to the former which a lot of people kind of mean when they refer to intelligence. Don't get me wrong knowledge and culture are cool but it's often mistaken for intelligence when it's not IMO. That's why I'm often reluctant to class my self as a sapiophile because of its connotations regarding what people class as intelligence.

I suppose that comes out over time. On the occasions where you take time to get to know someone, their level of intelligence speaks for itself. I had a fb, who as well as being an epic lover, would always bring up the most interesting topics during pillow talk time. He didn't have a degree but his knowledge of the world through lived experience always had me captivated.

Not sure if they exist here, but you might enjoy toastmasters or a local debate club. Depending how good ya are at communication, some higher label bars get rather good for political and other debates throughout the nights.

Ex topic: Do you believe “All Tomorrows” to be a good thinking tool, as a story?

Most people haven’t read it so if ya have and explain it, the conversation can go from there. It’s unusual for us to picture humans millions or billions of years more advanced and evolved than us, I guarantee it to be a fresh topic.

Notorious for this personally. In bed, I enjoy playing devils advocate occasionally, since it always sparks an interesting convo. Some people enjoy it more than others!

Judging by some posts, I was right commenting above that the sapiosexial perversion is often misunderstood for snobbery. It's no more or no less than being attracted to big boobs or Asian girls or MILFs or whatever you feel attracted to. On the recurring topic of intelligence is not equal to education or degrees, of course not. Nobody said that. But, let's take a different trait, for example, you like a rebellious attitude. How do you know someone is a badass: rides a motorcycle, wears long hair, listen to heavy metal, etc. But all these do not necessarily equate being a genuine rebel, but you'd hardly imagine a bad boy driving a Toyota Prius. There you have it.

This is borne out in the fact that I've been attracted to tall women, short women, ladies from size 12 to 22, blonde, brunette and redhead.

The commonality is in intelligence, independence, achievement and a fabulously delicious magnetism. I love being with someone who's my better, or my equal, with total equality between us, even if it's a Fab/swinging friendship, as well as real world. Utterly fabulous!

I like someone whom I can bounce off and spar with and that does require a quick mind. But I also value an emotional connection - how much of that comes from intelligence depends on the person. I wouldn't use the term sapiosexual (or demi-sexual) because most people aren't familiar with it. It just seems a little conceited.

Not really because in my field I work I've met some of the most highly intelligent people in the world. And nope I don't fancy them. So I'm not attracted to intelligence in itself.

I find that I'm attracted to people who I can chat to and feel we're on the same kind of page.

Yes, we are!

Narrowing the definition to be based around intelligence alone is wrong. It includes talents (Artistic ability as an example) personality, demeanour, etc… in essence for us it means looks alone are not the key triggers. Of course, there has to be an attraction, but that attraction may transcend visual elements.
