We would just say we were only out for a social meet and leave it at that, possibly let them know that we didn’t “click”

Tbh. Never really been in that situation on the day. We usually chat a while before even agreeing to meet someone for a social and get to know about them so its usually clear where things are going before we actually meet.

If you get asked and not intersted just make you excuses and leave , if they kick off you know you've done the right thing by leaving.

We did have one lady who we thought was really nice but was really strange at the social and turned into a complete psycho when we messaged her to say we didn't want to take it can further.

This.

If they try and persuade me otherwise I just tell them I have somewhere I need to be.

Meeting as a couple we have a safe word/ saying so that we know we are both happy... or not. Then can make our excuses to leave if we want to.

I always make it clear before we meet that its a social only with absolutely no chance of it continuing back at mine.

my own little sanctuary

I find it’s always easy to explain ahead of time that you aim to be leaving the social at a certain time due to other commitments. This way you have a set time to leave and then you have the option to leave/stay etc. The bonus being is that when that time comes around you can both part ways without any awkwardness.

We haven't really had that may socials, so it is a bit of a funny one trying to know what we would do if it's not for us (I'm far to polite) as messaging and pictures can all be deceiving.

The best thing to do is be honest there and then, but that’s a lot of pressure for some people.

Having a ‘safe word & excuse’ can serve, but to be honest most people will correctly assume you aren’t interested anyway if you come out with a get out ‘reason’.

Best thing is simply to say ‘it was lovely to meet you and thanks for taking the time to meet us, but we don’t want to take things further.’

I Just had my first meet so I was only looking at a social, they came round to mine and we got on well chatting, Dave could see that I was nervous and encouraged me to give her(as he put it) a cuddle in which I did and from then had a lovely night,

We make it clear beforehand that it will be just a social and we chat between ourselves when we get home before making a decision. So far only one person overstepped the mark.
