I cant help feel that people that like BDSM have some narcissistic tendancies due to the nature of what is involved. Your thoughts?!

There's alot of care in bdsm if done properly, I for one consider the wellbeing of others. Its not all about pain.

Why have an opinion if you don't know about it?

I understand why you might think that. There are some weirdos and narcissists yes and a fair bit of elitism , but there are many normal people with a passion for this stuff, sexual connoisseurs and adventurers!

I could demonstrate but I’d need to tie you up and have you licked by my sl*ve!

How much involvement have you had with BDSM? I've had quite a lot over a few years. Haven't found that people are any more narcissistic in the lifestyle than they are in RL or...Fab.

Would agree. It’s about mutual respect and knowing the limit of your partner who wants to be in the submissive place.

You're aware that there is more involved in BDSM than control / dominance and watching someone in pain? And that anyone watching someone in pain is doing it consensually - the person in pain "enjoys" it.

I don’t think you understand it. It’s not about making someone feel useless or on pain… there needs to be an understanding at the start to know what each person wants from it… experience. If it’s not your thing stay away!!

OP I would like to explain to you about this face to face but I see you are hiding your profile.

Any particular reason or have you got a bit frighten?

It’s not one sided. A good Dom cares and respects his sub, and treats him/her carefully to ensure their physical and mental well-being. It’s the core of an effective D/s relationship.

The best Doms are big softies imo.

The D/s relationship is a balance of power, you can’t have one without the other.

OP, we would love to know where you're getting your knowledge of BDSM from. As it seems very one-sided and shallow. BDSM covers a very wide variety of activities and relationships, not just a sadist inflicting pain on people.

Consent.

Mutual needs being met.

Pain is one of many sensations.

It's a relationship, even a brief one.

Aftercare.

Checking in.

So many ways to answer, but trolls will be trolls.

In a proper D/s relationship a Dom will put his or her sub before anything or anyone else. It’s most definitely not narcissistic. Fifty shades has a lot to answer to. That is not a true D/s relationship so please don’t base your opinion on such crap as that.

Burnleyish (She/They)

Even when purely looking at S/M play sessions it's about an exchange between the sadist and the masochists.

I may have met a narcissist or two in 20+ years on the piblic bdsm scene, but they generally aren't around for long because people figure them out pretty damn quick

You're describing abuse, not BDSM. If you don't understand the difference, please stay away from BDSM for the safety of everyone involved.

Also, you don't get to choose whether or not you offend someone. Intent does not trump impact and never has.
