"The 70's were great. Arranged meets through the contact magazines like Experience and Vibrations. Contact magazines? tell me more" Contact mags. People would put an ad in a contact mag. Brief description, usually no photo. People would send in a letter that would be forwarded to the advertiser. If the advertiser liked it, then they would reply directly back. Usually by letter as well. It was a total faf but it worked, because timewasters could not be bothered with it. I reckon I had a 1-10 success rate with it. Contact mags were usually advertised in porn mags or could be bought in sex shops.

Enclosing a well worded letter on good paper, a tasteful photo and a SAE increased the chances of a meet. After that it was like any meet today. What it did was out the timewasters. There was quite a time lag from sendingbones sdvert but once published every week a big bundle of letters would arrive and the sorting start. Most were easy to discard and no SAEs, crudely written on abtornnout lined page with no photo eliminated a good few. Then thevthreevpiles:Yes, Maybe and No. Resort until a shortlist. Then the replies. Easy enough, a polite note on the letter, into the envelope and onto the post box. The yes ones had to be more carefully written and now we had to write a good letter, a good photo & the SAE. To deter photo collectors we colour photo copied our pictures (usually naturist ones from holiday). Then the 'phone calls and the sex.....

"Late 90’s/early 00’s for me. The internet made finding other like minded people a lot easier, but it hadn’t become quite so mainstream, which meant the ratio of genuine to time wasters was a lot better than it is now." I hear you, would you say there's alot more people who 'just exploring' and don't actually know what they want. (in which there's nothing wrong with)?

" Exploring is one thing, but I think anyone who’s been involved in this scene for any period of time will have encountered the keyboard warrior idiots who are just about to wind people up or waste their time. Just an unfortunate side effect of the web being so ubiquitous nowadays, along with the higher awareness of swinging.
