Hi why do a lot of couples use catch out questions on the end of thier profiles and make them so hard to meet?

Nobody reads all the profile especially when they are to long!

if a profile is too long, and you can't be bothered to read it all, then you are probably not what they are looking for, and they are probably not for you either...

Well you may not read the profiles because they are too long,but you can't speak for everyone else.

And if you haven't read all the profile then how do you know you are what they are looking for? This is why people have 'catch out' questions,for peoplewho can't be bothered to read a 'whole' profile

For exactly that reason!

If they put them at the start - who would read all the important "This is what we enjoy/are looking for" information that is designed to stop those not meeting their needs from messaging!

It's exactly why they will probably not read, or read and delete without replying to, the majority of messages they get sent!

A good tool in fact!

For exactly that reason!

If they put them at the start - who would read all the important "This is what we enjoy/are looking for" information that is designed to stop those not meeting their needs from messaging!

No it doesn't take a mastermind to work it out,its usually stated quite clearly,but it also doesnt take a mastermind to work out that you do need to read all of it

If someone cant be bothered to read my profile, i assume they cant be bothered to get to know me before a meet, i would also (rightly or wrongly) that they are going to be crap in bed. Yes a lot of assumptions. But those assumptions could be changed with someone taking 5 minutes to read a profile.

I think you will find the majority of people will disagree, not everyone thinks like that, in fact i would say very few, especially females and couples. Even if some just want a fuck im guessing there still has to be an element of attraction.

We have a long profile, which is also full of stipulations. We do this because we are tired of being messaged by 'the wrong people'.

I agree that like finds like, and usually the ones who have read all our profile and then messaged us are indeed our kind of person.

Alas far too many people (in our experience it's single straight guys) don't bother to read all the way to the bottom of our profile and just skip to the pics. This is entirely why we've got a previso (sp?) in capitals as the first sentence on our profile. Not that it helps much really

The "a fuck is a fuck" comment warranted a block from us, as you clearly wouldn't care to read our profile and respect it either. Then you wonder why you keep getting blocked!!

In all honesty it's not just single blokes, we have them blocked but we get plenty of messages saying nice pics, I mean seriously if that is the most stimulating message you can muster there is no way we will reply.

I know this is a generalisation, but I honestly thought this was a comment by someone in their late teens/early twenties ...was surprised to see it was from someone of 52 years old! It may be all you want, but the vast majority of people on here want a little more stimulation...like conversation, similar interests (both in and out of the bedroom) and a bit of respect

Everyone goes on about male time wasters - and some may say that's the sad truth about 30% of men on here however. That's not exclusive to men - I've had two failed female meets and one couple time waiters in as many weeks

Manners and the odd phone call can go a long way .... So red the profile make contact before if you can - check feedback ... We can all limit the amount of losers we try and meet -)

Speaking as a single male who chooses to omit a profile pic, (and therefore effectively lower in the food chain than plankton). I am often astounded at the requirements of many profiles, but perhaps if faced with an avalanche of hopeful messages, I would feel the same.

Should anyone wish to make this happen, please feel free..... Surely this site is about a bit of fun. Ladies and gentlemen, surely even the Neanderthal among us are entitled to their own unique mating signals. Now, anyone fancy a shag?

We've been sending out a lot of polite messages lately to winks messages and friend requests...our profile isn't massively long, it's clear and states our preferences...and yet we still have to keep messaging...sorry we don't meet smokers...sorry you.re outside of our age range...sorry we're not looking for straight couples...straight single men...now we know we can use filters but don't always...however, we have preferences which we are fully entitled to...and the inevitable rejection wouldn't be such a blow to your obvious sense of entitlement if you just took half a minute of your time before messaging people who will clearly never be interested in you...

We didn't have a 'catch out' line in our profile, but due to all the morons that just skip to the pictures we have had to add one. It's early days, but not one person that has replied to us in the last Week has even bothered to read the entire profile.

My view is; If they can't be bothered to spend 2 minutes reading our preferences and limits then we can't be bothered to reply to you.

Grrrr, just wrote a whole Tolstoy epic on how it makes me chukle with these 'catch out questions' or requests to put something in the subject....unlike the OP I can obviously see why these are included, what I don't understand is why they are put right at the bottom of the profile?!

I've skipped loads of profiles (when in picture perve mode!!) and the number of 'please put blah blah blah in the subject' you come across is laughable!

Surely including it in the main body of text would sort out those who have read a profile and those who haven't!!

Actually that's not a bad idea... to catch out people who just jump to the end to find the secret word you could put a fake 'quote this word in the subject' but somewhere in the middle of the profile explain that the 'gotcha' at the end is to be ignored and the real word is something else.

Personally it's way too much effort for me to even consider implementing and I'd probably forget what the real word is anyway

Think about it from a couple's perspective.

Why should they take the precious time to respond to someone who can't be bothered to read their profile in full? It screams of being lazy and not that interested if they can't be bothered to read the full text!

If a profile is a little bit ambiguous, then it is perfectly ok to politely message them and strike up a conversation just like one would do in a real life context.

How happy would you be if someone who was the opposite of what you were looking for messaged you without reading your profile? Yep, thought so!

Theres doing it right and being what they want and then there is being deleted because you either made 1 little spelling mistake when they're no better or you get sidelined because of sheer numbers.

One time I sent a message, it got read and wasn't deleted but no reply.

Fair enough but they had someone else lined up so i left it.

Next day I see a "NO MORE SINGLE GUYS AS WE HAD ANOTHER TIMEWASTER!" on their profile.

I guess the special person they chose was not so special afterall. I had a laugh and never looked at their profile again.

I just laugh now. You can't force people to like you. I just find it a nice taste of karma when they've blatantly chose someone over you and said 'mr perfect' ends up being a complete time-wasting twatbag.

It's even funnier when said twatbag has no pics and like two lines on his 3-day old profile. Some people just ask for their time to be wasted with the people they pick when they bleat on in their own profile about people having pics and in-depth profiles.

I'd actually be happy to receive messages from people regardless!

And as for this hang up on reading profiles, surely having some 1-2-1 interaction with that person is a better way of establishing compatibility!

When you apply for a job you dont get offered it based on your CV now do you!!!

Our profile is not long, yet three quarters of the mail we receive does not comply with whats on our profile

OP - couples and single fems get loads of messages and this is an easy method of cutting out the time wasters. The logic works like this if you cannot be bothered to read a profile even if it takes a few minutes, can you be bothered to turn up? I know its not fool proof but saves time. You need to look at it from their perspective.

Well you may not read the profiles because they are too long,but you can't speak for everyone else.

And if you haven't read all the profile then how do you know you are what they are looking for? This is why people have 'catch out' questions,for peoplewho can't be bothered to read a 'whole' profile

If you're not what someone is looking for why would they give you a 'chance'? it's like going to Tesco for kitchen towel, but on your way down the aisles a tin of soup bounces in front of you and says give me a chance...not much use when you wanted kitchen towel!

For exactly that reason!

If they put them at the start - who would read all the important "This is what we enjoy/are looking for" information that is designed to stop those not meeting their needs from messaging!

It's exactly why they will probably not read, or read and delete without replying to, the majority of messages they get sent!

You're a straight single guy and you smoke, we're never going to be interested in meeting you no matter how great we get on in our 1 to 1 interaction...if we met you at a party and we got on like a house on fire, we'd really enjoy it-we're friendly, sociable people, but no matter how much we like you, we're never going to fuck you...you're not what we want and no amount of 1 to 1 interaction is goign to change that...we'd rather spend our time on here interacting 1 to 1 with people we're likely to meet
