If you have only tried with fingers I would say try some smaller sized toys first and build up to bigger ones.

Take it slowly don't rush and lots of lube.

I’d agree with this. Lots of lube and go really slowly to begin with. Don’t be afraid to pause and wait for things to ease if the muscles start to tense, if you trust your partner and you’re slow and patient, that will pass and the muscles will start to relax

My tips would be-

Be sure to use plenty of lube, enter inside slowly to limit risk of tearing and if returning to vaginal sex afterwards remember to wash/clean up to prevent infection.
