Amsterdam Trip

So we are planning a short trip to Amsterdam in January and want to fly by as much as we can. Very tempted to visit the club Fata Morgana but might plan another trip to have the time to go there properly.

So thinking if we arrived on Friday and had a look round the Red Light district (because why not?) and would like to check out a sex shop. Does anyone have any suggestions for the best shop to visit? Bit of all sorts kind of thing?

We are also tempted by a cinema which look great in porn films but don’t know if we would likely be the only people there with a lady and get pounced on or if the “rules” are much like a swingers club? Would be great if we are not the only couple but not essential if what goes on in there is as respectful as most clubs.

Would it even be like the porn version or is getting busy actually frowned upon in there?

Other than that Friday would also have food/drink so any hints and tips on places to go would be great.

Want to do the normal tourist stuff on the Saturday so canal trip and have a mooch about followed by a night out in regular peoples clubs dancing till the early hours.

Coffee shop Sunday morning before heading home.

Any recommendations for any of the above or advice on what is or is not doable would be fantastic. All plans can be changed as this is actually a fairly rough plan for now.

Yeah that happened just after we were looking into flights lol. But read that it’s a 3 week lockdown so towards the end of January is a possibility. Not sure Ben sure if it’s worth going there in Jan or to wait for some warmer weather?

To be honest I found it all a bit tame. The live sex shows were too staged. Some of the booths in the porno shops had gloryholes and thats always fun. But plenty of couples in all the places. My girlfriend at the time even went up on stage in a sex show to oil up a muscle man but he was only topless. Pity, as I would have liked to have seen her at least suck him off.

Yeah I’m not big on strip shows to be fair so was going to give a few of those places a miss. That’s when I thought a cinema might be a bit more real but didn’t want to be absolutely swamped by guys. Thanks for the info and good shout on the booths. Are they in all shops or is there better ones?

My favourite swingers club in Amsterdam is the Paradise Club which is in the north of the city. Always busy at weekends, very friendly and has a good bar and evening buffet. I bought my favourite paddle in a sex shop in the red light district though I can't remember which shop! Check out pics of me and LunaLust on my profile to see the paddle - decorated with a red inlay. Sex shows in the red light are quite tame and, as said on thread, staged. Stick to a cinema/Kino as there is often more action there!

Dubai & Nottingham

You won’t get punched on it the red light area cinemas.

For food/drink Rembrandt square is quite nice.

For coffee shops depending on what you’re after experience or products , you could look up previous cannab*s cup winners and do a walking tour , you get even get a map of this. I really like the Doors cafe and Grey Area on Lilliplat.

I also like to wander around the canals and visit the photography and tulip museums.

You can get 24/48/72 hour passes with free entry to most places.

Avoid Ann Frank and big galleries unless you’re really into it, you’ll lose hours

Thanks,

Yeah neither of us are smokers but when I’m Dam n all that. So just want to try a bit of everything but be relaxed about it. So far I think a Red Light District walk, La Salon and Club Paradise are on the list. Defo get on the canals and generally have a look around. Want to go dancing on Saturday night so after a “normal” club now. House, techno, trance type thing for a bit of a rave up.

Alicante, Spain. (Sometimes in Wales)

When it's okay to visit, try the B1 sex shop. It's on Reguliersbreestraat at the southern end of the city centre.

There's a sex shop downstairs and a cinema upstairs.

There's a straight films floor and further upstairs there's a gay films floor. There are lots of dark play areas on the upper floor.

In the straight cinema, there are often couples visiting who may or may not be playing. When my GF and I were there, we played and the men were respectful of our limits and just watched as we fucked. The chairs have seen better days though!

There are lots of restaurants, bars and coffee shops in the same area too.

Was I Amsterdam on Helloween weekend iIt was amazing

The only thing I would not recommend is life porn show

40 euros ticket for nothing. Good looking people, but the only thought I had watching them was what a shitty job they have

Any porn does a better job

No emotion on their faces, just pure mechanical frictions

Just an advise

Yeah think that’s our take on that kind of show. Not really our interest as would rather be properly involved lol

Amsterdam is an awesome place to visit all the same though, just need to get things booked up away from any restrictions!

On my best friends stag weekend we were all sat watching a generated show and a random couple walked in. She was wearing stockings and a short skirt, all of a sudden they began touching each other as if they were the only ones in the room. As a bunch of guys none of us knew where to look.have never appreciated the whole situation until now. Completely owned the whole club and only now has it been the appreciated situation that it was always between them both. Complete game changer.

If you're up for that oldskool Red Light District feel then the Reeperbahn area in Hamburg is probably closer to what Amsterdam used to be like than Amsterdam is now. When I first visited the 'dam in the late 90s it was very different from how it is now, it' s been relatively sanitised. Much of the Red Light district just looks like regular apartments and offices until late at night when there is a kind of transformation. Whereas the Reeperbahn still has a lot of the old-fashioned porno cinemas, way more sex shops, places where you can buy erotic cakes etc etc.

Obviously Amsterdam has the Coffeeshop culture as well, but even they don't seem to have the same quality and variety of products as they used to, so if you're not massively into that side of things then the Reeperbahn could be a better bet. Also the Hamburgers are probably friendlier towards English tourists.

Stop flying in Europe because it's cheap, you have trains from the UK to Amsterdam (via London).

Climate change is real.

If only we had the money available to not go for the cheap option….

But apart from the additional cost for trains, if we manage to get time off it will be limited. So air travel makes a weekend break in the dam achievable.

It's a no-brainer to not fly from Exeter anyway, 45 minutes in the air and you're there, for a cost of £70 per person, return if you book at the right time. Whereas if you wanted to get the Eurostar you'd need to fork out at least that again if not more to get the train up to London which would take several hours to add to the time it took to get the Eurostar then factor in changeover times etc and you've eaten up about a third of the weekend already. I get the point though, if you're already close to the Eurostar then theoretically the train would be a good option.

Just back from fantastic weekend in amsterdam.

Few things for anyone going soon.

You need antigen test before flying and passenger locator form filled online or paper too. There was a near riot at easyjet checkin desk with several passengers who didnt have test...held up flight for over an hour. Once in to amsterdam.... No probs, barely looked at anything!!

They all eventually got on but not sure if they had to pay for 'quick' tests.

We didnt have to show any proof of vaccination anywhere IN amsterdam. All good.

Taxi to fata from city is about €50+ in Uber. Earlier in day it showed €40+..when we booked it was 50.

We went on sunday night as we only arrived on sunday.... DON'T GO on a sunday!! It was virtually dead.... Not many couples there and more 'older' couples than we expected. Luckily we hooked up with one of the best couples there that night and still had a brilliant night (AND they drove us back to city!)

The club itself was amazing. I can only imagine what it must be like full of fit hot couples on a saturday! Lots of rooms, dark room looked amazing (was empty when we popped our head in) we got a nice little play area for ourselves.

Later went into the BDSM room and had a quick play. To see miss with legs up on chair... I wish i had my phone! Lol

Free drinks, got a little too d*unk mind you!

Red light area is utterly shit! I was looking forward to us having a bit of fun in peep shows or booths, or even a cinema. Only one peep show going, and woman on rotating bed was VERY rough! Lol!

B1 Shop/cinema was closed due to renovation. Was looming forward to that too!

Didnt bother with sex show... Knew it would be shit! Expected a LOT more from red light area.

Dont get run over by a cyclist.... And dont get too mashed in a coffee shop either!!

Thanks for that! Think RLD for us is just a walk and browse to tick it off the list. Hoping to go to La Salon and now heard about Same Place so staying in the city and get as much done as possible in there.

Going Friday to Monday so should get busier nights, plus it will be June so fingers crossed a but warmer too. Lol.

Still after a standard dancy type night club for a bit of a rave up.
