Why leave your profile live?

Just saw a profile which said "please note unsolicited messages are likely to be deleted without reply".

I can understand there comes a time when you no longer wish to make new friends, so why would you leave your profile live and not set it to friends only? Am I missing something?

I'm currently not looking for new friends so my profile is hidden to save Others wasting thier time, so no I don't understand why someone would leave it live in those circumstances

so your friends who you already know can see your profile

you cant set your profile to friends only, you can hide or unhide thats it

people should be able to use their profiles how they want

Yes you are right, sorry I was thinking of another site, maybe admin could look at adding an option.

Cos the profile holder wants to choose who they message rather than having to trawl through their inbox.

We haven't been looking for new playmates for quite some time now but I won't hide it. Just because we not looking for new playmates doesn't mean I don't want friends to be able to see my pics and profile it just means I'm not looking for new playmates. I have set our profile settings where we now rarely get any messages so obviously it's working.

I make it clear in first sentence on profile we not looking so those who click on us know straight away not to bother

If I hide my profile friends either stop messaging me, or message me to ask what's wrong.

I also only say they are 'likely' to be deleted without reply, an interesting message from someone who meets my criteria will almost certainly get a reply.

Sadly most messages are one liner 'hi how r u' type messages which I really can't be bothered with.

Yes it was yours and it has now been pointed out to me that friends only does not exist on this site. Yes I totally understand wanting to restrict inappropriate messages. Have fun,

By just updating your profile, as was said,most people wont bother. Forget to update it, and people will do what is only expected and respond.
