What is swinging?

A year ago I'd have said keys in a bowl. Then we discovered sites like this, and then clubs, and singles, and fuck buddies - all of which we've had a lot of fun with

But the more we learn, the less we know - so interested to hear people's _iews?...

Just to stir it up a bit - is it possible for a single person to swing with another single person? (And trust me we're grateful for single people so that's not a 'ban single people dig')

I think it is whatever you want it to be. If you are happy, having fun and being respectful to others

it is all good..

Yes indeed. Have swung with single women quite a few times (wish it was more).

Swinging to me is having fun with like minded ladies, I didn't label it, just joined and the opportunities have arose. I am what it says on my profile, people can either say hi or not, it's personal choice. At the end of the day we all joined to have fun and spread our wings just a little.

Surely, if a single gets with another single, just like in the pub on a Saturday night, that can't be swinging or most of us have been swingers since we were teens!

If a couple of people get together with the intention of a loose, sexual relationship, or as a long term sexual couple, isn't that dating?

I have no idea what a couple getting with a single is, but I do know that we have always known swinging as two couples getting together with the intention of swapping partners for sexual means..

However, things change and evolve and the singles on here and those who meet singles (as we did) will have a different take on it. But I am sticking with two couples getting together for sex are swinging!

So maybe it's different levels? - All couples = swinging, Couple with a single = part swinging, etc. etc...

That's more or less our take as well.

If either of us went out on our own and met another person for sex we'd see it as casual sex not swinging.

Putting the 'cum' in Eboracum

We're swingles.

To be honest, I am not that bothered about definitions, as they are loose and change every day. The Dictionary will say swingers are one thing, but Wikipedia says otherwise. Which site is right? Who cares?

All I know is that singles are welcome on here, couples seem to like to play with us, and swingers clubs allow me access. It's not some vast 'club', where people get better perks if they can prove their worth in belonging to it. We are here for the same thing (mostly) so why analyse it?

Remember legs go out as you go back and in as you go up...... swinging?

Ok have played as a single lady and with a single man joined together as a couple to attend parties.

Now i play with my husband as a couple.

All different types of swinging.

Different people see it as different things.

I think what makes anything 'swinging' is the No strings.

Well Ellen had a few meets on her own and at the time I felt kind of involved in that it was her fantasy but also a turn on for me. But after a bit she decided she preferred meets with us both involved.

Originally I'd have said those were still us swinging but on reflection probably not.

I don't think single people who only look for single people are swingers though, but not that any of that matters.

The only time we've really thought about it before has been the rare time somebody has become clingy after a meet which surprised us as we'd assumed everyone that signed up to 'swinging' would be happy that it's just a sex thing.

Well, before being introduced to the scene I thought swinging was a "couples only" thing. - Whether it be two or more couples meeting up and swapping partners ect, so I was a LITTLE bit confused when Vincent showed me the world of Fab and it was predominantly singles...

I don't really know what I'd call it now. We're grateful for the singles who help make our threesome/gangbang fantasies a reality, but I still don't know if I would class singles as "swingers" (and that's not a derogatory statement!).

I don't know... It's easier just not to try and label everything. It over-complicates life, lol.

Years ago we suggested (jokingly!) on the British Naturism forum that they start a swinging special interest group. The President replied that there was no way BN would ever consider encouraging 'wife swapping'.

Lots of people still think swinging is just wife swapping, but it's a lot more than that. When R is being a greedy girl it's far from wife swapping, and when we're in a threesome or playing bi that's not wife swapping either. We think it is just casual sex with others, just for pleasure's sake. There need to be more than two involved, we thing - if it's just singles having sex with other singles that's not really swinging, just healthy natural and normal promiscuity, the sort of thing we did all the time when younger, but we wouldn't have called it swinging..

For us as a couple it just means involving others in our relationship. Simple!

+1 The U.S. expression Recreational Sex describes it better to us, and takes in all 'genres'... so 'Wife Swapping' becomes just one strand of swinging - along with all the others you have mentioned.

where the world takes me

Personally i think of it as a state of mind, it's people who've realised that probably the most enjoyable thing that you can do is constrained within society by slightly old fashioned social mores.

That if you open up your mindset you can enjoy life to the full and push/test as many boundaries and fantasies as you've ever had in your life.

But! (and this to me is the important part)

It can be done without riding roughshod on the emotions and feelings of others. There is all the while a tacit agreement that what is happening is consensual, fun and not harming anyone else (unless they ask of course).

Hence why it's swinging rather than the kind of bed hopping, casual sex you get from a one night stand.

All parties know what it is, all parties are willing to try more and enjoy it with a freer mind (how many here have tried their darkest fantasies through this) and most will not get clingy or jealous as a result of knowing that person you see regularly is sleeping with someone else too.
