Any thoughts on good places to get collars for subs?

Anywhere that offers customisation?

Any thoughts or tips on what to look out for, what works and what doesn't?

I found the thinner leather ones work better as easier to do up myself when needed. Restrained grace do some nice ones, and captivatedcollar is another. It depends on what you're into, how long wearing for and personal preferences. Hope this helps somewhat xT

Nothing beats looking and feeling a item before you buy it. I would recommend going to fetish market like the Birmingham Bizarre Bazaar (the BBB) (or your local equivalent if you have one). You also get the benefit of being able talk to the traders (some of who may also the makers) for any sizing advice, customisations etc.

I like the idea of a ring at the front, and preferably one by the buckle at the back, this would allow ropes to be connected for shibari, e.g. a hishi karada incorporating the collar...

I like the idea of personalising it with the sub's name too.

I will take a look at those sites.

I have some thing in mind for a day collar. It is the play collar I am looking for.

Have been exploring Etsy and some other sites, London possibly a little far to go unless combined with another trip.
