Depends on height to size ratio surely, if you we're a shortarse size 18 then you might be classed as big whereas if you were 6 foot and the same size you'd probably be classed as average to curvy

ive beeen classed as bbw...im a 16 but in my head its over a 20!!but what does it matter???? would rather be big and beautiful and happy than be thin miserable and starving !!!

I'd say it's reasonable to say that, on average, it's a woman who's a size 18+.

Like others, I don't like the BBW tag (someone's size alone doesn't qualify them as beautiful) but I use it for pure convenience because people know what it means in terms of size ... it's a big woman - simple. I don't think I'm in any way 'beautiful' -I'm not that conceited but in the absence of any other well recognised term, I use BBW.

It used to be size 18 plus. In america they have bbw, sbbw and ssbbw and it goes on how much they weigh not their height.

Feck me!! Size 14 isn't 'big'! If the average UK dress size is a 16 then a 14 is smaller than average ... more 'curvy' than 'big'.

If a size 14 woman is classed as a BBW then I must be a SSBBW at a size 24 ... scuse me while I find a bridge to jump off!!

I would say that if the average size is 16, an 18+ would be be a BBW. However, a lot of people do go by the height/size ratio. As said before, someone who is 5ft2 and a size 18 would looker larger in comparison to someone who is 6ft and a size 18. I find that stating my size as well as the fact that i'm a "BBW" sorts out any misunderstandings or possible complications.

Exactly, its all down to how weight is distributed and how a person carries it.

There seems to be a lot of body dysmorphia on threads like these with people getting the wrong idea of how they actualy look.

I don't like the harsh term 'fat' (even though it's what I am). It's a negative word often tagged onto derogatory adjectives ... fat ugly, fat lazy etc. Nope, not for me.

In an ideal world nobody would be 'tagged' with anything - but this is the REAL world where people have preferences and whilst some guys don't mind my more than ample proportions, others would find my size a turn off. I don't want to waste their time nor ours so if we're actively looking for meets, I use the recognised term BBW along with my dress size on our profile - that way, there's no confusion

I don't like the term either but as someone said earlier, it's an easily recognised term which only takes up 3 characters in a limited length headline or forum handle so that's why I use it.

I definately agree on the height comment too, I am regularly glad to be 5'7" and not any shorter.

I've never minded being called fat, it descrides how I look to others just as skinny bint means a girl who don't eat nuthin.

Fat is beautiful, I am beautiful (to some) and the rest as was said before, can go eat chips
