Merseyside

Cranberry juice or you can get sachets which you add to water which help you can get them in most pharmacys and supermarkets.

I know she may not want to go the docs but in self diagnosis sometimes you can get it wrong and it could be somthing like a water infection that needs different treatment, hope it is just cystitis and a good dose of cranberry juice or the sachets work

Cheadle

You have to convince her to go to the doctors, or even a drop in centre, it's the only sensible advice, take care, x

South West London / Surrey

Cranberry juice or lemon barley helps or sometimes a cool bath (no bubbles)

But she really should go to the doctors incase it's a urine infection.

Cystitis can either be bacterial & therefore an infection or a swelling of the bladder after sex (honeymoon cystitis!)

I get it regularly (after the latter) and a few days of an anti inflammatory helps, but also I tend to have to take Trimethoprim (antibiotic) as well.

Go to the doctors and get checked asap. xx

most fundamental aspects

Best thing for her is to look up the local GUM clinic. Everything is confidential and will not appear on someone's medical file.

no matter

Drink alot of barley water .. lots of fluid to dilute the urine. get a jug of water and as she pees get her to pour warm water down on the area if its really sore. main think is to drink lots. . if she gets a temperature or severe pain she probably has a kidney infection. no sitting hot baths no bubbles or soap in the area.

Cystitis if left untreated can cause a kidney infection.

Drinking cranberry juice is not thought to help relieve pain but may help to prevent outbreaks of recurrent cystitis.

Make sure she takes some painkillers as can relieve the discomfort, no sex until it has gone either.

There is also no evidence to suggest that drinking water is helpful, but as water is good for you, then no harm will be done.

Also stay clear of alcohol and this may irritate the bladder.

But generally speaking, if the symptoms have not gone in 2-3 days she needs to go to a doctor, and have a course of antibiotics.

Loads of water/cranberry juice and paracetamol/ibuprofen.

A course of either Minocycline or Doxycycline would be a good idea too, to clear up a bacterial infection.

Chemist - cymalon

Drink plenty, cranberry juice, water, herbal tea, anything.

Pain killers - paracetamol or brufen if not allergic

Hot water bottle on tummy can help.

Must go to docs if doesn't go away in one - two days, could need antibiotics at that point.

Am feeling it for her

get well soon

If it is an infection and antibiotics are prescribed make sure she gets some probiotics too . If I don't I end up getting thrush (TMI??) and end up in a worse state than when I started!! Bloody hell ... Who'd be a woman eh?

if she doesn't go doctors she may end up peeing blood as if its bad and is a baterical infection it can cause the bladder to kind of peel this is what causes the bleeding. it also can turn into a kidney infection which at its worst can make her pass out have a fever and the pain will be really bad all for the sake of seeing a doctor if it was me i would tell my friend to stop being silly if u can't do that then get cranberry juice and all the other suggestions x

but the likeihood is if she gets it to go away a bit with diluting her urine it will come back when she forgets to drink enough

Cranberry juice and cystopurin sachets. They dont taste great but they work.

Tell her to make sure she urinates before and after sex in future as this can sometimes be a cause.

Failing that working i think a trip to the doctors may be in order as it could be something else with similar symptoms! X

The Town by The Cross

Literally gallons of water,

Neutralise the pee with bicarb of soda in water several times a day.

Painkillers and bedrest.

If there is no change in two days or if blood appears after peeing go to the doctor.
