Hi All

Just to warn you that an article is appearing in the Sunderland Echo today.

This article primarily is about a lady who was signed up without her knowledge. Now obviously this is not something we condone but the article then goes on to denigrate the site itself and the regular users who are just here to have a good time with other consenting adults.

Beware new users and picture collectors. We are expecting a glut of new people joining from the Sunderland area who are just trying to identify the members on here.

Take any precautions you believe are necessary.

Yes we've pretty much done the same thing with any that may even slightly resemble us. It was hard enough getting a meet before. Its going to be nigh on impossible without being able to show some pics now.

I thought you had to either log In to your account or sign up to _iew profiles....!!!!

You don't need to log in to see profiles but you would to see pics. Also, if the joker who set it up didn't protect it, it will show up on search. I am guessing the guy who got in touch with her via Facebook would have told her the profile name.

This is just a mean horrible prank, but unfortunately it means we get called nasty names too.

So alot of people know her address and now have a hard copy of her mug shot! I for one wouldnt have had my photo printed in the local rag..her poor kids are gonna get the piss ripped out of them. After reading the article I wrote a response in the comments section under the article. Hope nobody minds. I have copied it below:

"Whilst it is deplorable that a fake profile has been created without this lady's knowledge and personal information given out, it is obviously the result of a personal vendetta or prank against her. It should be noted that the police have traced and arrested the people responsible.

FabSwingers is a community website for consenting adult individuals/couples to chat and maybe indulge in sexual activity with other like minded adults.

I am a member of the site and I am sure that fellow members would join me in expressing disgust that the site has been used to target an innocent person.

As a regular reader of the Echo I am however disappointed with the unbalanced and biased nature of this report. There has obviously been no attempt by the writer to research/understand swinging or swingers. There is no basis for the comparison between swingers and paedophiles and that comment should not have been printed. As for the comment relating to the site still being open - Facebook has been used for similar pranks/vendettas but I don't recall the press printing that Facebook should be closed."

i have called up my local papers when they have printed sordid rubbish about massage parlours and explained they encourage it when they take advert money which pays there wages which comes from blokes shagging hookers so really they (the papers) are living off immoral earnings,funny how the editors i have spoken too spout shit when you point that little issue out

This story has now spread to the national press and has been published on the Daily Mail website. The article includes a picture of the website and a comment from the woman stating "it's unbelievable what they are doing on this site, it's sick"

It appears that this woman is notorious for false accusations and mischief making and finds ways to get her name or picture in the press on a regular basis.

Whoever put the profile on the site obviously never put any pics of her on it.

If they had, she'd never have found out because no one would have contacted her!

Admin should play hell with the Echo for bringing the site into disrepute by suggesting they'd have her on it in the first place!

Just read the article. Have a feeling there is far more to her 'story' than meets the eye... and no doubt it will come out in the fullness of time.

As for the usual sensationalist language of the Sunderland Echo's reporting - there is a saying:- The only bad publicity is NO publicity. Okay, it will attract for a while a bunch of wankers, but there are PLENTY of us on Fabs who are quite adept at spotting them and playing them at their own game - and then getting them shut down.

But it may well also attract some genuine people to the scene who may not (hard to believe but possible!) have heard of Fabs before - which is to the good isn't it?

We just have to accept that there is still a long way to go before the lifestyle we all participate in is treated as nothing to be surprised about.

And anyway, most of the people who are 'shocked' by this story will be far more pre-occupied with searching the t'internet looking for pics of Kate Middleton-Wales' tits today anyway.....

Why should we be made to pay, learn to sniff them out don't go plastering face pics if your bothered about who knows what you do keep them private and show them when you no you can trust, we shouldn't have to pay we just need to be alert.

I've just read the article, and have now made ALL pics on mine, my OH and our couples profile set to friends only, and no one else is going to be added if they have joined the site since the article was published, might seem harsh but as what we do is not accepted by main stream society I do not want my face and pics trawling the net!!

On another note, the reason I got into swinging was because my dads. Either in law got caught behind his wife back doing this kind of thing, I was curious so took a peek, never looked back!

And that was about 4 year ago!!

This is why I don't put any info on my profile, no face pics, nothing (hopefully) that could identify me.

It's not the paper's fault. Yes they have now advertised the site but there are nosey indiscreet people everywhere. So I'm always as careful as I can be. Making people pay wouldn't make a difference.

Well i eventually found the article and what a complete load of tosh. As someone earlier in this thread has said, its clearly somekind of personal vendetta or prank.

What proves my point is that the man knew where the "women" lived.....the only way that information could of been given out is if the "fake" (if she is indeed fake) knew the real one on a personal level.

What i find most distressing is the fact that the article writer clearly has no idea and more no interest in finding out why we do what we do.

Every so often something like this happens, it gets published in a local rag (no disrespect to the people of sunderland) within a week itll will forgotten as the next juicy will of come along. There is no need for panick or any kind of hasty decision making.....if the story was meant for bigger coverage it would of made the national press.

I for one, have no intention of stopping using fabs because of a small majority of _iews from a small group of narrow minded individuals.

Keep up the good work admin.....having a blast here.....lets get nekkid!!!

Okay so a national paper wanted to see what coverage they could get from it.

Either way, i personally dont care.....im proud that im a swinger, im my own person and i do it because i want too.

Just seen the article on the Daily Mail website - what a BRILLIANT advert for Fabs!!!!!! You couldn't buy PR like that. Don't know why anyone on here is worried. It is clear that there is FAR more to 'Wendys' story than meets the eye and the public are not slow in spotting when they are being turned over.

As for posting a screen shot of the Fabswingers welcome page in the DM article - GREAT!!! We look forward to a wave of new members - REAL ones - not just the short term and easily spotted idiots off the back of that.

In the meantime, if anyone is worried, just set all your pics to Friends Only (you can always set them back to public again once the furore has died down) and be ultra choosy who you add to friends..

Can't wait to see the next installment of "50 Shades of Wendy"....

the reports of the police tracking down an IP and arrests being made is quite clearly only being claimed by her, not confirmed by police which most journalists would have done if looking for info on these things. also, if some one had done this to me, i wouldnt say, "MY profile has been taken down" id be saying "THE profile "
