I've only got a few and due to get another one next year when the artist's books open.

It's something about the tingling when getting a tattoo that I love!

Give a few ideas to an artist and they'd come up with something. Or anyone you know into drawing. I designed two and the third I had a friend sketch from a photo. Next tat I'm giving the ideas to the artist and letting him put his own twist on it.

I (husband) met a guy at work the other day he was mid 40s and covered in ink. He said he started 20years earlier and that each piece was relevant to him at the time he had it done. Looked brilliant and loved the fact that events of his life were mapped out on him in such great artistic detail. It also helped that he was hench so they generally suited him.

Not keen on random doodles (like mine) on guys who really don’t have the body to display them well, like me! Not jealous or anything!

I totally get that, I remember when I was younger i knew a guy who had tattoos that you couldn’t see very well, or should I say work out what it was

Yeah, I was planning on it, but they all want a basic idea and that is what is eluding me atm.

I know the styles I like, and now have a very meaningful reason, but its figuring out how to represent that in a personal way that is stalling me. They don't know me, so I need that before they can really fly with it.

No huge preference for us.

We have tatoos that are very personal to us and we love but for us its about the people or persons more than the artwork.

That said, some artwork is insanely good and can be very attractive and a great conversation piece

Not a fan, neither of us are. It is not a reason not to meet, unless covered. A few are OK. We would never get any as we have seen too many after 10 years or so as the inks run one into another.

My nieces husband runs his own parlour in Northampton and his work is pure art. He says his one regret is that his art will not stand the test of time. Body shape changes and age will mean in years to come most will not look as intended.

Just don't get all black and white. No clouds. No clock showing the time someone was born. No steps leading somewhere. That should help make it a bit individual.

Personal I'm a bit of a ink pevert, I love good quality work, I love the stories behind them, the individuals logic and meaning behind each piece of work,

How everyone has there own style and how everyone's skin carries them differently

This being said I'm a firm believer that anyone getting ink, should research and find the right artist for the job and put thought and meaning in to choosing their ink as it's with you for life and its one think you take with you to the grave

Only problem with hand tattoos is the ink break down due to washing hands more often and using, rubbing on the ink more than on other areas

We've both got tattoo's, and we both really like them on others.

I think too many people try to attach too much in terms of meaning and depth to a tattoo.

By all means, if there's something with genuine meaning to you, use it to create something beautiful on your body.

If there isn't...just get something that looks cool!

I spent 15 years trying to come up with something deep and meaningful and got absolutely nowhere. When I chilled out and went "I'll just get something that looks good" I ended up with an arm full.

We’ve both got them. We both love each others ink and appreciate well done ink on others. We think they can enhance attraction, and it’s always both a good ice breaker to talk about ink, and often interesting to hear some of the stories behind it

Some look great, however as you get old and saggy a lot of the time they turn into a blurry mess. Great when you're a 25yo Adonis but not so good when you look like Madge in Benidorm.

I'm also not a fan of getting partner's, kid's etc names tattooed on yourself. But chavvy if you ask me. But each to their own.

Worked with a lad who had half his head tattooed... he was a lovely lad but fuck me it looked awful!

Yeah, I'm not going with anything you can see online or out of a book. It will be unique. It's not going to be an image, more of a design or pattern.

I've got some ideas where sizes / spacings are relative to the age differences between my kids, so at a glance I can tell which parts of the design represent which kid.

I don’t have any but I don’t mind them. Some people tell a story with them, some just have them for no other reason than they like them. I’d never tell anyone I didn’t like theirs because it’s their body, it’s up to them whether they like them or not.

I LOVE most tattoos, except face tattoos. I know we shouldn't judge on appearance, but I do think face tattoos send out the wrong image for a lot of people.

I also don't think that tattoos need to be 'meaningful' - it's perfectly valid to get a tattoo just because you like it.

Love them. I have a full sleeve, along with upper and lower back, right thigh, calf and ankle - and plan to have more.

It took me until over 30 to pluck the courage up to have a full sleeve out of fear of what other people would think. Now I don’t give a shit. It’s my body, my choice.
