I'd definitely try chat to them on cam or phone in advance to get a good idea of if they're flaky or not!

I think I fit your description pretty well there! Apart from the midlands part haha

It typically means that fewer people attend than have said that they will, so manage this well.

I'd probably recruit from a bi club night, for greater chance of reliability of attendance. You could even plan it for a club.

Have them commit to a scheduled confirmation plan, so that you can get a better idea of who is most likely to attend.

Consider meeting each attendee in person, in advance. This could be social or sexual but gives a better feel of reliability.
