I often see the word 'genuine' used in profiles, both couples and singles and wondered what most peoples interpritation of that means,

ie, does that mean someone who will actually turn up ?

In my experience it means they are the person in the profile and not some 13 year old or single guy pretending to be a couple or someone who is just on here to wind you up then disappear!

I take it with a pinch of salt. Until we have met them we will not know if they are genuine...

If someone isnt genuine they wouldnt exactly state it on their profile anyway so you cant rely on someone putting genuine on their profile meaning it to be true.

Try this it helps a little

There are a few things to try to out the fakes

1: does the profile sound like it was written by a man or by a couple/woman

Now i know this sounds hard but you will soon pick up the words and phrases and type of stuff put on by men pretending to be couples or women.. tends to be very sexual and explicit.

2 :Look at some of their friends how many have they got?

3: do they have a verification?

Most websites offer a verification process either photo verified or verification through meeting or webcam - if they don't offer this try to find a better site.

4: Get them to verify to you that they are real, by telephone or webcam/skype etc. Just a quick call/cam is all that is needed

If you find people refuse to go on cam or have a telephone call ( nothing dirty just showing faces and making sure we are all real) then they are usually time wasters or fakes. So if you cant get a verification that they are real - call a halt to it.

None of these are fool proof but it helps cut down the time wasters.
