Drinks in a club

This is a strange question I grant you but hear me out.

Sitting in a club one day a couple came and sat opposite me, I was drinking a brew and they said so everyone could hear” don’t go with this guy he is weird” The owner asked why and the woman replied “he’s drinking a brew that’s not done in a club”

The owner said he has paid more than you to be in here he can drink what he wants. I don’t drink alcohol I just don’t like it. I didn’t know it was a part of swinging culture.

Mrs M never or very rarely drinks anything other than soft drinks when at a club.

We have seen people who really need to know when to stop as it just ruins everything when they drink to excess.

I like a drink or 2 but am generally limited to 2 because then I'm fully aware and making choices with a clear head.

I like a brew too but im odd can only drink tea from noon - coffee until noon no later

Looks like some people have to drink alcohol to be even able to swing. Yes, alcohol is supposed to limit inhibitions, but if people need it to swing, maybe this lifestyle is not for them? I hardly ever drink, and never in a swingers club. I like to be in control, not being controlled by the alcohol running through my veins.

You do what you want OP it’s not harming anyone.

I don’t drink when in a club and stick to soft drinks as well. Can’t say I have ever wanted a cup of tea though.

I only drink tea or water when in a club or on a meet. I live to be fully aware of what I and others are doing. Your not wierd.

Don't see why it's an issue. I'd rather see someone enjoy a cup of tea than someone who's necked 6 beers in 10 minutes and is a mess

In a group situation with multiple males I need my wits about me to ensure I’m safe and to be able to keep control of things.

If I’m d*unk, I’m taking risks.

If the guys are d*unk, there’s a chance they will make bad judgements and cause me harm.

I’d prefer it if no one in the room is more than ‘merry’ at most.

Wow some people, personally I’m not a drinker either but still have a good time. I hope they made you a decent brew without the milk being put in first

Wow this has really turned into a thread for the self righteous

I think the issue here is not so much the op was enjoying a brew, but more the blatant ignorance of the woman, saying aloud for all to hear, for calling him weird for doing so.

Personally I will drink what I want when I want.Im an adult and afforded that right,as has the op.

Drinking tea is weird for anyone, but only because it tastes disgusting. Why does it taste like grass? Haha

I drank water at the club I went to. I wouldn’t drink alcohol too, but then I really am weird

Ignore the, they sound like dicks

I just had to re-read that to double check I was correct, what a horrible thing to say, I wouldn't of wanted to go near her and that nasty attitude after hearing her say that. Men have small pickings in a club as it is without a loud mouth opinionated fool gobbing off about you having a berw. I for one would pick a sober man over a pissed man any time xx

I don't play when I have a drink ...it means I'm there to be social...

I think it says more about their own insecurities if they thought announcing it loudly was appropriate.

Verdict: twat

I gave up drinking alcohol a number of years ago, quietly and without any fuss, because I wanted to improve my health.

I couldn’t possibly have foreseen just how unbelievably judgmental people were, and how abusive some were of my choice - men especially, who seem to link drinking to masculinity.

Someone who knowingly puts a poison in their body, who clearly can only enjoy a social situation when tanked up (or on their way to bring so) and then judges you for “having a brew” - and worse still, calling it weird - provides a fabulous opportunity to arrive very quickly at a point where you realise they are a person who’s opinions you definitely need not care about.

Good on you

Most clubs don’t have proper bars anyway, a couple do but a lot are take your own..

I hate that so I’d be joining you with a brew ..

Ignore the haters..

Some couples at clubs really are up themselves..

Some are absolutely lovely though

I sometime have one or two alcoholic drinks. I don't like to drink too much though and alcohol isn't a must for me at a club. I have been to clubs with people who have been drinking like it's the last days of Rome though (and I've seen worse still).

I don't see why you drinking tea is an issue, OP. Let's face it, and I'm not judging, but if patrons could find themselves drinking piss (and I'm not referring to the strength of the tea here ), a hot drink is hardly on the fringe!!

Do you think it could just have been a badly executed ice-breaker?

Thats a very rude thing for them to say and very judgemental, I (J) will have a brew tomorrow night at the club for you, actually I don't even know if they do tea so I'll take a flask!

Do whatever you like as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else, is surely the main ethos of swinging?

With regards booze, me and Mrs N both like a tipple to take the edge off but wouldn't go beyond the merry stage in a club setting. M

Not been to a club for years but I was a water or coffee drinker.

Alcohol doesn't entertain me and I've seen people so d*unk they wouldn't know if the dick inside them was covered

My one visit was definitely soft drinks. Notnonly want to be aware but also need to drive home.

If I'd thought of a cup of tea att the time would have had no issue having one. I'm a teaholic

We've got a friend - single male - who only drinks tea in a club, we've never thought anything of it.

The attitude of the loudmouth says considerably more about them than the person drinking tea.
