I think some women don’t like that a guy has played with other guys. Therefore some blokes hide this side to them. In order to enhance their chances with these females.

My theory is that some of it is coming from a historical predutious about bi and gay men being more likely to have STDs and HIV.

To be fair though, I think personally if someone has that on their profile, then they aren't the one for me anyway, so wouldn't try and hide my sexuality to try and trick them into a meet!
