Being 50 isn’t old these days. I’m fitter now than when I was 30. However quite a lot of ladies set there age filter max at 50. Do any of you sometimes wonder you may be missing out on some great guys on fab by doing that?

I'm with you there, same here fitter and better than I've ever been. Add to that the experience that I can now bring to the table that I didn't have as a 20 something and it does make you think if only they knew.

At a guess we would imagine people are happy with the choices they make.

I doubt they feel they are missing out OP. There is plenty of choice for women looking for men under 50. It's different at parties and socials of course. You don't have your age tattooed on your forehead so its down to you on the night.

We respect and understand the reasons behind age limitations. For us it is more about style, skill and acknowledgement of the dynamics of the play. We tend towards older but that is just us. Energetic 50+ is very much where we are. x Anne & George

As a 45 year old, I started playing with men my age on here, but ventured to younger when offered and honestly, it's an eye candy thing for me. Nothing against men my age, but those 30 something men do it for me

Frankly, I am completely contented with how I look and what I do; ageism is very prevalent, but at 65 I have a colossal amount of experience and a vast amount of knowledge to draw upon.

No & I'm nearing 50 myself

I find the older the guy the more entitled they are, ignoring my preferences, thinking they can change my mind as to what I'm looking for etc

& that's honestly not a dig at the OP just an observation from the messages I receive

Depends if you mean real 50 or fab 50. On my single profile I've set the age lower because of the number of men who knock 10 years off their age

There and to the left a bit

I doubt they do wonder that OP as the plethora of choice in the age bracket they have chosen will prevent them from doing so.

At 56 I've never found my age to be a limitation on here - there are plenty who will meet the over 50s so I don't tend to worry about those that won't and simply respect and accept their preferences. Are they "missing out" by filtering me, and others my age, out? Not in the slightest, and I wouldn't be as presumptuous to think so.

Agreed, Red, it's about people perhaps wanting other people nearer their age? We're mid 30s and set our age range plus or minus 10 years, so 25-45. Happy with that

Its all about choices..we all make choices..anybody that criticize others for their choices..must take a look at themselves..and accept others choices.. we are all guilty in fancying younger people..but not always.. Chemistry between people you meet is more important than just being good looking..i know its difficult for older people to get contacts with younger people, but we must respect their preferences..good luck in your searches for a nice meet with others.

I’m like cherryblossom, I don’t tend to look at men older than me. It’s purely an eye candy thing.

That said, I know there’s the argument that older men are more “experienced”. Thing is, every time I’ve chatted to a man who says he’s “experienced”, he’s seemed to think he knows everything about pleasing a woman, and if I suggest that maybe not all women like the same thing, they get a bit affronted? Obviously that’s not all “experienced” men, maybe I’ve been unlucky.

I’d much much prefer to be with a man who is still willing to be shown what to do, what I like, and to be taught a bit, than a guy who has supreme confidence that he knows how to get every woman off.

It’s interesting OP that you’re looking for women up to 32 years younger then you but only 10 years older? Are you worried you might be missing out on some sexy older women?

If women took the same approach and only wanted 10 years older then they’d have to be at least 40.

At 51 I'm over most age preferences . I concentrate on the ones that want to meet the older gentleman. I was in a Quest on Friday night and have a lady on my hot list as she's local with a great profile. After seeing her in the bar on her own I got chatting and not long after a bit of flirting we ended up in a room. Just goes to show you can't always assume you are too old for anyone.

We have met people over our set age limit on here and also met people where we are above theirs, so I’d say meeting in person at say a club or party is different than an age preference on here, we just figured we had to set it somewhere when we joined about 7 years ago and not changed it as we’ve aged lol

I was missing out, but the other way around. Had filters set from 35-54. Once I removed them, my main FWB who was 31 at the time was able to message me. Best decision I ever made.

So I have no filters now, people of any age can contact me. But it is very, very rare that I will reply to over 50s... I will do in very exceptional circumstances though.

At the ripe old age of 63 (nearly 64) I tend to be philosophical about my membership of the site and manage my expectations with regards to meeting people.

I tend to veer towards people my own age group and would have little in common with those under 45. Age is a number important to some but not to others. I fully understand that ladies and couples have a plethora of chaps to choose from and that a firm toned body is preferable by far than the advantages of senior citizens discounted public transportation.

Tbh that’s a good point you make I should look at my age preferences. Pre Covid I was approached by a couple and the Lady was 62. She had an amazing body, better than most women half her age. Long slender legs, small waist, toned back and arse. Hoping to get back meeting them soon.

"It’s interesting OP that you’re looking for women up to 32 years younger then you but only 10 years older? Are you worried you might be missing out on some sexy older women?

If women took the same approach and only wanted 10 years older then they’d have to be at least 40.

Tbh that’s a good point you make I should look at my age preferences. Pre Covid I was approached by a couple and the Lady was 62. She had an amazing body, better than most women half her age. Long slender legs, small waist, toned back and arse. Hoping to get back meeting them soon. "

See this is what baffles me.

You say this woman had a body "better than most women half her age".

So on the one hand you're suggesting that past a certain age women's bodies worsen somehow. And yet you're asking not to be discounted based on your age because you have a great body?!

While ALSO making 30-something women feel bad for not having tiny waists, slender legs etc (which by the way, is YOUR definition of "better").

Why not just say she had a great body and leave it at that?!

Just because people's filters are set at a certain age does not mean they are missing out on anything.

Mine are set at the ages I have to help with messages. If I see someone outside them that I like I'll contact them myself.

Maybe if you stopped moaning and complaining about men or the standard of men in most of the posts you make you may find they will be interested.

But if all they read is that your unhappy and fed up with your lot in life it doesn't matter how hot you are.

Guys will walk away. They don't need the grief

I can’t help noticing that all the comments men are making in this thread about older women being attractive are exclusively about the ones who look younger in some way. It seems men only really want women over 40 if we can pass as younger. Isn’t it a bit of a double standard to then complain that women don’t want older men?

Haven’t you seen the comments? You even made one yourself. I’m not taking it anywhere you and other men haven’t already.

And to answer you original question, because the weekly threads on this topic haven’t answered it thoroughly enough - no, of course we’re not missing out. If we’ve decided to set an upper age limit at a particular age, it’s because we’re not interested in people over that age. If Hugh Jackman is on here and wants to message me, I don’t have filters on (I live in hope), but most older men however good they might think they are, don’t appeal to me. Especially with the “i’M sO eXpErIeNcEd” line which honestly just makes me

More women/couples set their upper bracket to 45, and from some I have chatted with, it’s more to do with cutting down the amount of mail they receive. If you appeal to someone, they will contact you whatever your age. Just be the best you you can be

I'm as attractive as I was in my thirties, in a different way and to different people.

Being sexually attractive wanes as you grow older and you appeal to fewer and different people but overall presentation and attractiveness doesn't on my opinion

No, even though we meet guys over 50, we never wonder what we may be missing out on with any of our requirements. You could say that about virtually any age limit. Everyone has a right to specify what they're looking for and whether it makes sense to anyone else or not doesn't matter.

I test my case "

“Experience” when it just means “I’ve had sex with a lot of women but only do it in one specific way regardless of the woman I’m with at the time” is no use to me. I want someone who has the ability to respond to me, who cares what I want, and age has nothing to do with that. I find the older a man is, the more likely he is to be set in his ways, in sex as in everything else in life.

I also don’t want someone who’s only fucked one woman for 25 years, and she checked out 20 years ago, so it’s been birthdays and holidays only ever since. That kind of man just wants blowjobs.

And before you say it, this is not me having an axe to grind, this is based on the joys of my inbox. I can give you a run-down of the problems with 20-year-old as well if you want (and no, I don’t think I’m missing out on them either).

We are a couple that only meet younger men. Many younger men set an age limit of forty, so we can be unable to contact them due to message filters. From our perspective we are missing out on the opportunity to meet with someone we might be interested in. However, the crucial factor is that the guy has not missed out because his preference is to not meet with a couple of our age.

Sorry OP, but if you don't match what people are looking for then it is not them that misses out.

I agree with you to a degree.

But men do not help themselves by starting threads in the lounge knocking other men's looks, profile or if they just got a cock on show.

It's as if the men that do this are trying to take down the competition by belittling others.

I would agree when i was 20-30 but now at 43 it is obvious that older men have had more time and life experience to come up with filthy, fun ideas.

If they thought they were missing out then they wouldn’t have the age limit lol!

Age isn’t relevant to me, but it makes my skin crawl when men message me purely because of my age.

I don’t have set limits, but do have preferences. Putting filters on is just an easy way of reducing the inboxes from here, specially in world where were all judged on our profiles alone

Obviously this isn’t towards all men of those age groups, just the unfortunate experience I’ve found on here.

People set their filters to fit with their preferences. Whilst I am sure there are many great people who are younger or older than my preferred age bracket, I choose to limit my options by narrowing the field. When I set my age limits I decided what age I'd be most happy to meet & then added 5 years on to either end because it isn't set in stone.

I would agree when i was 20-30 but now at 43 it is obvious that older men have had more time and life experience to come up with filthy, fun ideas.

At this age I am also more capable of reading a woman, from the things she says and doesnt quite say.

I don’t think it’s obvious at all that older men have had more life experience or time to come up with ideas.

I often meet men from 25-60 and don’t find that to be accurate at all.

"

Maybe just me then

I prefer the older man. Happy with 40 to 50 but much prefer an older man 50+ who will play with me sensually. Getting a fuck is easy; getting a deeply, lovely, sensual session of love making is hard to find. Or is it me x

I’ve often said you can post a thread about any subject in the world ever, and within 7 comments the men-haters will turn it

Considering there’s lots of straight women on here a lot of them hate men! Haha "

Hahaha this made me laugh !!!

I think maximum age settings are probably a little arbitrary, and it seems human nature for many to choose a nice round number, so 50 or 55 are common choices relative to many women in, for example, their 40s (not all I might add). It's a little like deciding to set your alarm for 7am instead of 7.06am. I mean, how do you decide that your maximum age of the person you want to meet on fabs is, say, 53? Might as well specify 53 and 7 months (if the system allowed you).

"Probably…. But people do what they’re comfortable with not what you decide."

Exactly.

I doubt they will feel they're missing out on people they have no intetest in.

We see a lot of threads from people complaining about the people whose criteria they don't meet when what they should be doing is focusing on those for whom they do.

I could have a moan about those who don't like those of us carrying a few extra pounds, but it won't solve anything, and thete are plenty on here who do like a larger bloke.

Play to your strengths, not your weaknesses

I'm guessing you're looking for younger ladies?

I know lots of fellas who knock a good few years of their profile age for this reason

"It's coz we are not as pretty anymore.

Women love to look at pretty eye candy.

Not old uggos."

Not all women

I personally wouldn't meet men under 40

I find neither the sex or conversation is that interesting!

But then, I'm really old lol

The problem being that those over 60 would not be able to message you to get your attention

Excellent point, as you said yes it is just a preference. I prefer red wine but will drink rum from time to time because I want to. Doesn't mean my preference will always take precedence over everything else and I can't veer from that.

I also have a preference for attached women, doesn't mean I don't meet singles.

Personality-wise I prefer older men as their more on my wavelength but at the times I’ve had my filters open I’ve only had one guy message me that was a good match and he was exactly 50!

I'll stick my neck out and say. Those in my area over 50 I haven't been attracted to as of yet. Maybe that's because of their age, maybe it isn't ...

I'd say some people might like to look at their own age limits - if you are, for example, 50 and setting your own limits at "18-60" then who's ageist?

I'm with you there, same here fitter and better than I've ever been. Add to that the experience that I can now bring to the table that I didn't have as a 20 something and it does make you think if only they knew.

Your profile says you’re 44?"

Ha ha ha, priceless.

In the good old days Fab allowed Gold/Silver supporters to change their age. As soon as I turned 50, messages from ladies and couples completely dried up so I changed my age to 49 and I started to get messages again.

Consequently, Fab-wise, I was very successfully 49 for several years, proving the 50 age limit was moot! Sadly, the ravages of time mean I can't get away with claiming to be 49 any more ??. That said, I might be able to get away with being 59 for a few more years - if only Fab would let me!
