Brutal honesty or white lies?

Let's face it we've all been flaked and and been the flakes at some point. What do you prefer? Which do you do?

We're big enough and old enough not to give a damn, just suck it up and move on, but it can be annoying when you've made plans, or even turned other plans down...

I prefer to be told a white lie. "I'm sorry I have a family emergency and can't meet you" is infinitely preferable to "now I've seen what you actually look like I wouldn't touch you with someone else's".

If honesty is brutal on an internet site I would question the motives of the person dishing out the honesty

Either is fine so long as the white lies (with kindness sown in) are not ambiguous. Prefer to know where we stand and always make what we want or don't to others clear.

Must admit we tend to go for the white lie as well, there's no point being a twat.

We don't care if people don't want to meet but we think its rude to just not bother saying anything. That said, pulling people up on it is also unnecessary, you don't know if they've had a family emergency etc.

Prefer to be told the truth so that you don't think someone is still interested .But there are ways to let people down without being rude and cruel also.
