Does anyone remember these and did they ever use them? I used one once you replied to an ad by post, sent with a sealed envelope to the advertiser along with a fee and hoped to get a reply sent back. Prehistoric times

Yes, I do. We used Forum back in the day. Forum was more than a contact mag; some of the readers' letters was pretty good and really inspired us to explore 3somes and what wasn't called swinging then.

North Norfolk area

Never used Forum, but there was a group of contact magazines from the same publishers, Experience was a collection of adverts from all the "minor" publications (Exposure, Vibrations and a couple of others that I can't remember the name of).

Did have some good meetings from it

In those days (way before the Internet), if you got a response there was a damn good chance you'd at least meet!

Those were the days

We used desire magazine

After first using the contact section of trade-it advertising paper

Katie loved seeing the brown envelopes hitting the hallway mat

Darlington

We started in the late 90s and found what we needed online with a few swinger websites that had popped up. The magazine thing was still going at the time but never got around to using one.

I remember Forum, particularly the letters and stories.

Think this was fairly true for us also. These kind of magazines certainly sowed the seeds.

Dunno about those sort of filth peddling magazines but I knew a fella that played postal chess. Waiting couple of weeks to get opponents move back in the post!

Not contact mags, but Diamond free adds, cost a lot to retrieve your messages though.

We used Rendezvous for a couple of meets. How spoilt are we now with Fab? To be able to look at profiles, pics and verifications is bliss compared to back then!

We used ‘Journal of love’ and ‘new directions’ magazine and even appeared in them (well, L did)

We also had a free subscription to ‘pen society’ which hit the door mat every month. Despite a few attenpts we couldn’t unsubscribe, so are now wondering what the woman who bought our flat thought of us on opening them

I remember 'Experience' The thrill and anticipation of waiting for a reply in the post and then the opening of a letter is still priceless in comparison of the instant Internet world that we play in these days

Alicante, Spain. (Sometimes in Wales)

Had an advert in Journal of Love and won Couples picture of the month in Desire magazine.

We had a few meets from there too!

We also had a few pics and stories in Escort magazine and got a meet out of that aswell.

If people went as far as to send letters etc, then they were unlikely to be wasting your time!

We used Rendezvous for a number of years we met some great friends we still play with some of them, sadly lost contact with many others.

We used to attend many of the clubs and Saunas that advertised in the Magazine it was the best way to find out what was happening and where before the internet.

Southport

Yes, I did as a young guy in the 70s. Can't remember the name of the mag but I think it was based in Bolton. Although time consuming it was far more exciting as swinging was then a very 'underground' experience. Had some fabulous meets.

We had three replies from desire mag and all three turned into good meets, two of them long term conections. Its far too easy to delete and move to next profile on fabs, slightest thing you don't like move on.

Fun times with contact ads and quite a few laughs.

Managed to be on the front cover of one as well!

Coventry

Found out my late father was using one called 'The Pen Society'

Only found out about a year after he'd passed, my mother opened a letter asking for his renewal
