"We seen it as someone being up there own ass! Self proclaimed nonsense!" I agree Really grinds my gears when someone uses "I'm a professional so I can't send you a face pic" Erm so you expect me to want to meet a faceless man because he thinks he has a better job than me? Definitely not happening

"We came across many people describing themselves as professionals. We don't really know why is it so important to mention such things on swingers website. What's your thoughts about it? " I made a thread on this a couple of weeks ago. Got so many different answers. Here are some of them... Some saying it's because of ego and like to elevate themselves on here above others. Might be a nurse or a copper etc. Make themselves feel better and validate them being on this site. Some with a high end job. Etc.

Definitely not happening " There are a few professions that have strict rules in their work contracts about public identity. They can share a face pic privately but obviously not good to have it plastered on here next to nude body parts. Many just use it as an excuse so they can just perve other pics anonymously.

"We seen it as someone being up there own ass! Self proclaimed nonsense!" Interesting. Next time you need a doctor, dentist or lawyer, perhaps go to your mate round the corner because professionals are up their own ass. Personally I prefer to go to someone with years of training and with accepted qualifications.

"I work with some unbelievably clever and highly skilled people who would fall into the category of professional people but the one thing about them is that they wouldn't ever describe themselves as professional, it would be seen as quite conceited and dare I sat it amateurish. I think it's mostly used by those who wish to elevate themselves above others where they wouldn't actually stand out normally in a sea of similar people to themselves. Am I a professional? You bet your life I am in the field I am in. Would I ever describe myself as that....not a damn chance." Exactly, lad who used to work us said his father who organised the lord lieutenant of the counties diary said if you are somebody you dont need to keep telling people. I knew a old guy who bought a new top of the range bmw every two years but walked around in old clothes and looked down and out

We're not bothered too although it just makes us wonder why. We don't really care if someone's bricklayer, prime minister or unemployed as long as that person is respectful and have a lot of things in common with us. You can wear designer clothes or work uniform but idea of this website is that we'll end up naked so it makes no difference after all

"There isn't much more snobbery that self proclaiming to a be a "professional" on here. We know it's probably not the case for everyone that uses that term, but personally we just find it to be off putting...or maybe we should just get a B-tech in Swinging..." If they did those I’d be signing up!!! Although, if you’ve already got a degree, they don’t usually allow you to get a lesser weighted qualification Could I get a masters in swinging instead?

There is nothing wrong with people on Universal Credit.Plenty of them are employed on zero hours contracts or under 16 hours. Also some are claiming it for housing or children as now there is no housing benefits or tax credits for new claimants

"Puts me off. I think I'm far too common and poor being a humble waitress to breathe the same air kinda vibe. Can't go places that cost what I feel they'd consider loose change and all that shizzle. But, I support myself financially, well, I scrape by at best and that's how it is. I don't necessarily feel they'd judge me as such, but the point they feel they need to express their professional status on their profile, I go into "I'm lesser than" mode, even though I don't believe I'm less than on the inside... not in the slightest." The fact they felt the need to put it on their profile would suggest pretty clearly to me that they *are* making judgements based on exactly that. Ugh. I *hate* the idea that someone's worth as a person is somehow dictated by how much money they earn. You've also touched on an important and unspoken power imbalance – privileged people unthinkingly toss around sums of money that in themselves are exclusionary to those of us who are less fortunate.

"In the context of Swinging, we think it’s a Status thing. An indirect way of saying we only want to fuck people who have that certain standard of living and not people who live in a rough ass council estate. However, it’s the person that matters. We’ve been around the people who strut about clubs with their designer possessions looking for other supposedly perfect beautiful couples and they’ve been assholes. We’ve also been around people who are a bit rough about the edges and they’ve been assholes. As long as people are not assholes then we don’t care if they live in a 5 Bedroom detached house or a 2 bedroom rented property. Professional means nothing in the swinging world. Long may it continue Xxxxxxx Were professional people and live on a council estate, thats defo not what it means for us After having a cuppa with you, I’d never have guessed you was a professional couple! Should I have left the money on the nightstand? If anyone hears about a missing sausage on the news......give the police this message haha Exactly why people shouldn't judge "professional people as stuck up their own arses or thinking they're above others!! You know us and we're far from that we're both down to earth people who as long as people respect us we respect others regardless of status!! Im sorry I don't fancy all of oldham knowing who we are or work, and seeing my fanny!! Nope I agree, you two are some of the most down to earth, genuine people I’ve ever met on fab x" Awe thankyou and thats because you are also a great guy

"We came across many people describing themselves as professionals. We don't really know why is it so important to mention such things on swingers website. What's your thoughts about it? " I'd assumed it was about either suggestion that they would appreciate some discretion or that they were aiming to swing with in a particular socio-economic group. No swingers on less than £50k. But it could just be a throw away word with no real thought behind it.

"There is a large spectrum of people on fab. We use the term to describe the type of people we are. If people are offended by it that is their problem. We like meeting a similar class of person to ourselves x Mrs N" So you're a better class of person than a non-professional?

It doesn't phase me either way but at least spell it correctly if you're going to put it on there If you're going to publicly pull someone else up on their spelling, at least get the "phase / faze" thing right. Sure, they're homophonous, but they're not the same word. " I haven't publicly pulled anyone up. There was no naming and shaming of any profile names.

"We seen it as someone being up there own ass! Self proclaimed nonsense!" Yes, that’s pretty much a good indicator sometimes. It’s also amusing that they sometimes describe themselves as a ‘professional couple’ which makes me wonder if some of us must be just ‘amateur couples’ and don’t get paid for being in a relationship lol

Ah yes, the "So much for the tolerant left" / "NO U" / "Maybe if you were nicer, the police wouldn't murder you" / "Anti-racists are the real racists" argument. Yuck. 1. Next time you need a doctor, dentist or lawyer, perhaps go to your mate round the corner because professionals are up their own ass. Personally I prefer to go to someone with years of training and with accepted qualifications." I would add accreditation to the professional body their discipline is in. E.g. chartered accountants, chartered Engineer etc. I suspect the majority are not professional. Perhaps skilled in their discipline, yes. "It is funny how some people want to put their cv up. It’s also funny how some people bring politics into their usernames or profiles. And yes. Some do discriminate based on your education and job. Then again, there are some folks who want “classy” people only. I’ve seen one profile where this person is so hung up on the word classy. As for those who are discrete... they need to get a life. They make out as if you know their family and friends and will shout from the rooftops that you slept with them. I don’t think the person who knows you and has seen you on here will go ahead and expose themselves to say they’ve seen you on here. Even if you’re a visitor in their city or they are in yours, they still say they can’t show you a photo as if a visitor will know who you or your loved ones are!! There’s nothing professional about being on here. More like unprofessional and informal, so no need to describe yourself as such, unless you’re looking to date and a relationship. Other than that... I’m well educated, classy, worldly " Spot...on

"The definition is "A person competent or skilled in a particular activity. But a professional is more than a dictionary definition. ... It places a strong emphasis on the integrity and competence of its members, and therefore requires them to conduct themselves in accordance with a Code of Conduct." So really looking at lawyers, doctors, nurses etc... However, aot of people who have a certain education standard (degree) also tend to class themselves as "Professional"... " This is accurate. Code of conduct is a key thing and you can be struck off the professional bodies or associations you’re in. So you basically want to be a little more discrete is all.

"Just to make our opinion clear, nothing wrong with being a professional as in having a profession (career etc) but it's when the term is used in terms of swinging is what makes it sound incredibly pretentious. " Agree totally, incredibly pretentious. Would not say whether we have letters after our names or not, and whether or not we have the protection of money that being professional brings, but we cannot for the life of us see why people think it makes them more appealing than others on a site like this. We have met some very educated and beautiful on the inside manual workers, and we have met plenty of arsehole 'professional' people. It clearly shows the sad state of the world if people think that being professional makes any person think that they are better than another.

May be because of this some people hate that word . Most registration bodies require a certain conduct from their members , any breach may result in being suspended or striking off puting and end to their practice. Hence the discretion . If someone has a menial job that pays the bills, has enough free time to spend quality time with those they want to, is surrounded by family and friends and has inner peace are they less successful than someone with a professional status with ot without same inner peace etc? Success to me has fuck all to do with status and everything to do with how content you are.

"Puts me off. I think I'm far too common and poor being a humble waitress to breathe the same air kinda vibe. Can't go places that cost what I feel they'd consider loose change and all that shizzle. But, I support myself financially, well, I scrape by at best and that's how it is. I don't necessarily feel they'd judge me as such, but the point they feel they need to express their professional status on their profile, I go into "I'm lesser than" mode, even though I don't believe I'm less than on the inside... not in the slightest." Why does everyone think being a ‘professional’ means you are solvent, only dine in the best places (subjective) and live the dream. This sounds like a class issue - Britain hasn’t changed much then.

May be this explains why some chose to put the term on their profile - as an added filter system to filter out those who abuse and are offensive to others. Why would anyone want to spend with people who have that mindset. - just a thought.

"I for one, am quite disappointed in this thread. Here I am, donning a curly wig, 70's flares, an unbuttoned shirt and a chest wig, with a St Christopher on show. The 3ltr S Capri is outside and ready to infiltrate any terrorist lairs I can find. But, alas, we're talking about people getting paid to do a job. When will people learn that The Professionals are a highly trained organisation, secret civil service, that is broadcast on ITV2 twice daily (and repeated the next day). Come on people, get your facts straight " There basically Liam Neason in the film taken ! They have a certain set of skills ! Obviously we don’t unfortunately

"Puts me off. I think I'm far too common and poor being a humble waitress to breathe the same air kinda vibe. Can't go places that cost what I feel they'd consider loose change and all that shizzle. But, I support myself financially, well, I scrape by at best and that's how it is. I don't necessarily feel they'd judge me as such, but the point they feel they need to express their professional status on their profile, I go into "I'm lesser than" mode, even though I don't believe I'm less than on the inside... not in the slightest. Why does everyone think being a ‘professional’ means you are solvent, only dine in the best places (subjective) and live the dream. This sounds like a class issue - Britain hasn’t changed much then. " Because the only difference I can see between myself and a professional is the pay grade. I work my arse off to a high standard. I'm fucking awesome at my job. I put my heart and soul, blood sweat and tears into it. I'm no less committed and have been in my current workplace over a decade. I'm human. I'm flawed. I have insecurities about myself and my life. When I see what I'm not (whatever said positive label may be) I do feel substandard in a lot of ways. That's no disrespect to anyone at all, it simply stems from years of berating from caregivers and "loved ones" and love and care being conditional. Not everything comes from a nasty place or is a slight on others, I many cases, like mine, it's slights on ourselves from where we've been made to think/feel unworthy over the years.
