My wife and I are trying a new thing at the moment. We’re both looking for friends with benefits with whom we can date and enjoy spending time, and also explore better extramarital sex.

The better sex part is particularly important for Mrs because she has found lately that even the best fab meets aren’t as good as they would be if her sexual partners knew her better. A procession of new guys one after another just isn’t going to do it for her at the moment. (Never say never!)

We’re also now looking for new additional partners because I work away from home on a regular, weekly basis. Before now, we wouldn’t have wanted to spend our valuable time together investing in deeper relationships with other people, but now we have motive, means and opportunity!

Put simply, both the friendships and the benefits are nonnegotiable aspects of what we’re looking for.

All of which brings me to yesterday. My wife met my new girlfriend for lunch, without me present, and they got on like a house on fire, as I guessed they would. There were all the expected mixed emotions beforehand, but it turns out to have been a really good thing.

I suppose the purpose of sharing this here, apart from to encourage anybody who is thinking of dipping a toe in the polyamory pool, is to see if others have explored this sort of friendly, arrangement and to ask how that has worked out for you?

We don’t have that kind of arrangement yet but it’s something we are open to. Recently I met up with one of the ladies Mr has met on his own several times and we got on really well!

We have both talked about this quite a bit.

We are very much in love and have a really close relationship but both like the idea of having FWB as well.

We both like the idea of semi regular meets and I know what the OP means sex with someone who 'knows' what makes you tick is so much better.
