Just curious as to why people send a email complimenting you on your pics/profile, knowing they are not what you are looking for.....

Some will be hoping for a response but many like myself are simply being nice with no hidden agenda. You must know what it feels like to receive a compliment op.

I rarely message where I am not in their preferences, but I never message with expectations.

Its nice to say complimentary things and I hope they are met with the good intent they are sent.

I hope to bolster or cheer people up. I don't care if they reply either.

Its not an altruism either, as it makes me feel better as well.

I've been known to send compliments on a particularly clever username or amusing profile pic even though we live miles apart or aren't what eachother is looking for. I don't expect a reply to those messages but have had some good conversations off the back of them too. Just being friendly.

I sometimes message people to complement them, to ask a question (for example where they took a photo as it looks a lovely spot to visit) or to comment on their status (especially if they sound like they need cheering up or are looking for someone to talk to) .

There is no ulterior motive, and if they reply, I'll not drag the conversation towards meets our sex, as that wasn't the point of it.

If they want to go that way, that's fine but most of the time I wouldn't as it's not why I contacted them.

I just like chatting to like minded people.

Which is also why I don't filter anyone from messaging me, even if they aren't my type.

I would rather that than something rude or in text language.

I would just accept the compliment... if they get a bit much or push to meet, there's always the block option.

Simply because something brings pleasure and it's lovely to have that acknowledged. It's a friendly social interaction and a sign of appreciation. No more, no less.

I do it if I’ve got the time and really like someone’s profile or pics. They could be miles away or I might not be what they’re looking for, but show my gratitude for posting the pics etc.

9 times out of 10, I get a lovely thank you back too

I like to show people that I have appreciated their efforts so if it’s quirky profile or picture and it’s made me smile. Why not let the person know that. They could well be having a crappy day and it may just brighten their day up.

Occasionally I’ve read an outstanding profile or looked at some pics that are amazing.

When that’s happened I’ve sent a message to tell them.

There’s no agenda, I’m simply letting them know.

We’ve received the same type of messages and it’s a really nice thing to happen

Compliments when well intended are lovely. But if I get a “you are beautiful” message I don’t feel the same way. They don’t know if I’m beautiful or not. It’s a ruse to get a response. It’s kinda sad that it makes us hardened, but to hear it from people we love is just the best.

I fem have dropped randoms a complimemtry message and don't exspect anything back.

Do as to others as you'd exspect. If it put's a spring in someones step for a day, thats only a good thing?

The hardest part is accepting a compliment.

It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice

If a particularly well thought out profile which has obviously taken some effort catches my eye, I like to drop a little compliment as I know I like it when it happens to me x

It's called paying a compliment with no ulterior motive...that's all...

I chat to peeps here and they know they're not my type... It's just an online platonic relationship and they know it will never go any further...but yet they're content to continue chatting which is nice... they're not just trying to get into my nicks

I completely get that, especially if that's all they say. I personally don't do it often, it has to be the whole profile that shines out for me. Not just pics. Unless it's a forum game of course.

It’s a random act of kindness, of which there should be more. It’s the same reason I randomly sent out jelly babies to loads of people during the first lockdown. It gives me a warm fluffy feeling!

This is a interesting thread.....

I didn’t know random guys emailing....telling me I have a beautiful cock was a act of kindness....

Maybe I’ve lost the true ethos of swinging because I actually like to receive emails from people I’m compatible with that want to meet...

Because fundamentally people want to feel they have a chance.

Seeing the mail icon light up yellow gets you excited so people try their luck.

I’m looking for kinky sex

Exactly. It’s not a random act of kindness. To say you liked my pictures or profile is a compliment because that’s on public view. To say something about me personally that isn’t known.... well that isn’t !!!

Thinking about how people intitiate contact, as a male , biologically speaking, males approach with compliments , some are an opening line , swiftly to he followed up with a request either for my location or my availabliity, women rarely initiate that approach and never with a follow up . They understand and discern quickly a ploy , from a compliment, because they ve been hearing it from a time before they understood how their bodies worked and how they were regarded in society . When i have had uninitiated spontaneous contact from a woman, its heen because of something i wrote which they felt and understood personally , and it made an emotional connection, a compliment isnt meant to be acted on , or have a reaction its freely given , with no desire to create anything other than a feeling of value , of worth , and because sometimes we cant give anything else , and wont ever have that person in our lives as lover or spouse , but we can offer our positive regard, which has meaning , and indicates our own shared sense of worth! It makes us feel good too, and the more you practise it , the better you feel, not only that , but you start to radiate something which people recognise and view positively , its a good habit and its rewarded by people recognising you. Some men have paid compliments on here , and quite quickly it becomes apparent that their lives are so complicated by maybe a dependant , frail or terminally ill partner, they cant accomodate or travel, they never have time, and probably feel guilty about their online fantasies unexplored, unfulfilled, and unconfessed! But a small , but profound comment , recognising humanity in the presentation of sexuality, free expression, and stirring an urge , is understated , by a simple compliment , Which is never time wasted,in my book at least

We quite like getting messages from people complimenting our pictures. It’s nice to get a message longer than ‘How R U?’ sometimes.

It generally leads to a polite exchange of messages, some well wishing and then warm fuzzy feelings all round. As has been said it’s nice to be nice.

Not every message you get here is someone trying to get in your pants, and it doesn’t have to be.
