I never check winks ..... if someone is interested then just say hi but my profile does say this ....so if anyone does wink then don't expect a reply as it proves they've NOT read profile hahahaha

I think if used this way, they can be great.

I realise that can be unpopular though.

To me, it works this way.....

Profile one sends the wink

Profile two winks back

Profile one then sees that as an invite to message.

Sorted.

If we're not sure if we fit what they seek, maybe a couple of years out of age range as an example.

That’s exactly what we do. When it goes wrong/what winds us up is: they wink - we wink - them send a friends request right away... a) that’s rude, b) we’re not the wank bank..

I don't wink and I don't respond to winks. I find wonks are always from men that don't match my listed wants

Yeah, that's a different subject though.

Friends requests are sometimes sent without any contact, other times at the same time as the initial wink, and other times as soon as they message.

We only accept friends requests if we're chatting with them in regards to an actual meet.

Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else

No.

Firstly, there's no point, as the recipient is unlikely to see it, either because they never check them ,or get so many that one more doesn't stand out.

Secondly, and this is the main one for me, if all I have to say is "wink" then I don't really deserve a response. I expect to have to try a bit harder than that - if it was that easy it wouldn't be much fun trying to have a conversation in person...

We like winks and use it regularly to show our interest.

There are some who don't like winks ,so we message them if we like their profile,if not just move on .

Absolutely agree with this. Also when you say no thanks and they still ask to be added to your friends list when your profile makes it clear that your friends list is for people you’ve met or arranged to meet.

Just seen this...exactly same for me..got a wink from.a couple..ended up having years of fun. Act as a nice intro to express initial interest. Then messaging easier to see where it leads.

We never send winks. However if we get a wink and we may be compatible we'll wink back. Sometimes they'll follow with a message, confusingly sometimes not!

I see it this way, it's like seeing someone you like in person. First you try to make eye contact and maybe s mile at them then the response that you get from their body language will prompt you to go over and say hi or not. So since you can't do that online a wink can work as a sign of showing that like what you see and you're interested.

We think winking is a great way to establish a connection, it should be used more, it’s more friendly than someone adding you as a friend who hasn’t spoke or fabbed anything.

Me winking you shows my interest in you.

Wink me back shows you might be interested in me, so I'll message you.

Simple really,

Only with the occasional couple. We ignore them generally as spme people wink at everyone in number to see if they get looked at and its impersonal

I think your dead right, it's them people that need reporting, gives the rest of us a bad name and makes it harder not to be tarred with the same brush

I totally prefer winks (& says on my profile) to unsolicited messages. It's much easier, they've expressed an interest, I've checked them out ... now if I want to chat I just wink back clearing them for messages plus no need for all this essay/interview type opening messages! And I don't have then moan about the amount of messages ladies receive PLUS I can answer every message! Sorted and simple ... equals everyone's happy!

I use winks to express an interest don’t always have time to send messages then if the wink back I will happily take the time to send a message and attach face pics x
