Our first public meet(s) with no play whatsoever on first occasion are in a Public posh Bar.

Dress code for the Missus is always a micro dress that comfortable shows her stocking tops!

We turn up to socials smart casual we hope the people we meet do too. Definitely don't turn up in your work gear because you've nipped out "to do the banking" and you don't want your wife or employees to know what you're really doing.

I usually find tracksuit bottoms and a dinner stained t shirt works for me.

Depends a lot on how well you already know or if at all the people you are meeting and where you are meeting, to how smartly you should dress.

I definitely overthink it and wonder is somewhere in between either too smart or too casual. Smart shoes, smart jeans and a fresh shirt is a good handrail to go off.

Trainers are a little too casual and a jacket can be a little too smart x

I get that. Think you can judge by the person too if that makes sense, but can't go wrong with smart jeans, shirt etc.

For me jacket would probably be too smart but each to their own, as long as they look and smell divine

Funny enough If I am meeting a woman I always ask beforehand how she likes her guy to look, be it Italian suit, dress jacket, shirt and designer jeans, or totally casual because, you never get a second chance to make a first impression. It actually surprises me though how many women like men in suits.

I think being asked what he should wear would put me off completely! Same as if people tell me what to wear though I'm me and dress for me at that time! I like to meet the person not the clothes but your answer definitely made me think and come to a conclusion

Each to their own, but it works for me every time. I been told so often about women being put off by guys on first dates looking like something the cat has dragged in after they have gone to a lot of trouble to look their best for the occasion. Other comments have been that asking how they like their chosen guy to look have been that it shows a consideration for how a woman feels before we have even met, and I've been told quote: "Clothes maketh the man" however I'll take on board what you say if I'm looking for a date down in Sennen Cove

Wear something you would wear out with friends. Just be comfortable and you.

I think "last time I went to the pub and felt fantastic, what did I wear?"

Job done.

Hair, makeup, nails to fit the outfit, husband decides the underwear (or lack of )

I miss getting dressed up.

And men, little tip, make sure you pay attention to your hands. If you have scraggy dirty nails, they aren't coming near me. You can be full suited and booted, it still isn't going to happen.

I think I’d always make appropriate effort, looking smart is always something you can make more casual if that environment suits or changes, whereas the other way around is very difficult

A nice crisp shirt, a smile and good shoes are a good start.

Something I feel comfortable in(which tends to be skinny jeans and a nice top with a leather jacket) nice underwear and a bit of makeup. So many nerves going on before a meet so would definitely opt for a “safe” outfit I feel comfortable in. Freya

I'd hope guys dress for the conditions, as turning up in summer with theit igloo-appropriate wear is going to need some time for them to cool off. Shorts on a guy in summer is fine, to show off your legs well.

Grey joggers, if they show off your bulge, are always acceptable too.

I'd go for smart casual. Nice shoes, jeans, a smart shirt. It tends to be my normal look anyway.

Would depend where and when though. I think there has to be an effort from both sides. I think things like trainers, tracksuits, leggings, t-shirts, etc are complete no's - unless required for practical reasons, if you're doing something sporty for example.

Social meets in a bar or coffee shop I’ll always wear a well cut suit, open neck shirt, smart well polished shoes and a spray of Hugo Boss Bottled if it’s day time, Gaultier if it’s the evening.

It hurts nobody of you take a little care and make an effort, and you can never be over dressed but it’s easy to be under dressed.
