Why wink?

Annoyed or paranoid? Why do people bother to "wink" and then totally ignore a positive response.

We always try to respond politely either to say as gently as possible No or to ask the the "winker" if they would like further information. Having responded positively we get peed off when people cant even be bothered to say No thanks. We have made a few very positive connections but they are the exception rather than the rule

Do other people have this problem or is it just us getting old and grumpy.

a town called malice

I hear you, they wink at you, you wink back silence or worse still you get blocked, yes I have been blocked for winking back at someone

Or they wink so you message, a polite message and it gets a line through it and no response. Some of those on this site are definitely strange in their ways of working

I find it easier to ignore winks and concentrate on decent messages.

I send a wink to say I like your profile

If I get a wink back then I know I’m not upsetting anyone by sending a message or wasting people’s time

Not that I get many winks

Winking is a harmless way to break the ice. Some people are not sure how to start a conversation, we get that so it's no problem for us. People who are offended by a wink is a sign they're not laid back enough for us so they kind of filter themselves out when we read in their profile that winkers will be blocked, fine if you're that way inclined block us, my hot wife will fuck someone else instead.

Winking does nothing for us. We don't respond to them or wink at other people. They get mass deleted. Same as random friend requests.

We much prefer someone to message, strike up a conversation and have a chat!

If I wink and they wink back I'll always send a message. After all, I'm not going to wink in the first place of I don't like their look!

If someone winks me even if I'm not interested I may just send a no thank you out of sheer politeness.

Winking is a good way to show interest and if you get one back usually prompts a response but the longer we are on here the more we realise wording out an actual message will get much more attention

I basically think if someone is too lazy to follow up a wink with a message then they will be lazy elsewhere. I just ignore them unless followed up with more than a message that just says "Hi" or "Hey". Might be my loss on a rare occasion as they may not know how to start a conversation but I bet it is rare. It also says on the profile winks are nice but follow it up with a meeage worth responding to.

we always wink, if the other party dont want to know then they wont reply, some do some dont

its a good way to open a conversation, if they want to, and if they dont then so be it,

if they send a return wink then we will message

We tend to wink now and again if theres not as much in a profile as we prefer to get a feel for a couple. Effort in = effort out.

But now and again, people have turned out to be complete gems and just are rubbish at self publiciting.
