Has anyone being ghosted? And, do you think more men or women have been ghosted?

But if you want statistics 100% of the people who have ghosted us have been men

Yup....... it’s awful behaviour and probably my least favourite trait in a person. Proves they’re a coward ......

I think it happens to both genders equally.

Women do it just as much as men.

It’s an interesting one and part of modern life I guess.

How do people define ghosting?

A few times I’ve been chatting to people and have sent a message which has never been replied to, so not wanting to be pushy I’ve left it as assumed they aren’t interested.

But I’ve then been messaged a week or so later to ask why I ghosted them. This has been from a few different people and not a one off.

I've been ghosted... twice (on previous profiles)

One hurt a bit, and didn't understand it but we'd only met socially once but lots of flirty chats before and after. Took me by surprise.

The second time, was by an FWB, and totally out the blue. Given she knew my views on ghosting (which she shared) and all that we had between us, it shocked me, and to say it hurt like hell is an understatement. Ending things I could have handled, moved on from and accepted... the ghosting was like pouring acid into an open wound. never got to know why she had to be so cruel, but yes, it changed my opinion of her greatly.

"that is interesting!"

It's proof of how statistics can show what you want, I omitted the fact that in recent years we've only met single men

I ghost by accident on here. I will swap a few messages and then they get lost in the inbox and I forget about them.

Ghosting before a meet is just rude and annoying but I’m now at the stage I assume they will cancel or not show until I actually see them in the flesh.

After a meet...can make me feel like shit

My opinion is that you have to have actually met the person for them to ghost you. It's like a lot of words though, people will us them liberally and inappropriately. Narcissist is another that people like to throw about

I wouldn’t class not replying to one message ghosting. How could you have ghosted them if you sent the last message too lol

I’d say maybe if you had sent a few messages over the space of a few days, had no reply but could see they had been online and read your messages. That would be ghosting I think.

"Being dumb here but what's ghosting? "

The practice of ending a personal relationship with someone by suddenly and without explanation withdrawing from all communication.

If you've been on this site more than a day, chances are you've been ghosted

My understanding is that if you have a relationship with someone that you reasonably expect to continue and they suddenly stop all communication and seem to disappear then you've been ghosted

For clarity, ghosting for me doesn't apply if it's just been conversation on here. There can be lots of reasons for that, and sometimes messages can just get lost.

For me, it's with people you've met, communicate with on other channels and, especially hard, if you've shared intimacy with them. And then one day, it stops, suddenly, without explanation. (in one instance, I changed her name in my phone to Casper, even though it wasn't a friendly thing to do.)

I don’t think ghosting is when it’s just messaging ...... once you’ve met then they disappear that’s what I class as ghosting.

Ghosting is just cowardly. I was dating a guy for a few months, he ghosted me. Few months later he resurfaced just to ghost again
