When sending a message to a profile and it's deleted (read or unread) without a reply; I will block the profile because I'm obviously not what they are looking for. After mentioning this to a friend, they informed me I was weird (more than they usually suggested). Surely I'm not the only one who does this.

Its a sensible move. Saves you messaging them again months later accidentally and then them blocking you as they think you're a pest. Its not weird at all OP

If I don’t like someone I usually delete first time but when they then send a begging second one, I block

Not weird at all, if you’ve nothing in common or generally not a match it narrows down your searches later.
