I think the Wink is a good way of placing a subtle hint your interested before sending anything

As a rule of mine I always try to reply to winks even if it’s just to say thank you but I’m not interested

Manners and politeness cost nothing at the end of the day

Although I will concede that females probably constantly bombarded and don’t have the time, strength, energy or will power to reply to hundreds of winks per day

We've had meets that have started with a wink, so they can work. Just like in a bar, they're a way to show you fancy someone

I like to wink, just to show interest without bombarding the poor women of this site with yet another message from a male.

Although my messages are eloquent and have some substance, instead of the generic ‘fancy a fuck’ that a large portion of females get from males, I don’t like to intrude on peoples time.

So, if there’s a wink, it’s me saying hi, and if you like what you peep at, it’d be lovely to chat

X

We wink at someone if we are interested in meeting them, if someone winks at us we look at their profile and if we're interested we either wink back or message them thanking them for the wink and go from there.

Winks are vital.!!

They are the equivalent of making eye contact and a smile across a crowded room. If I’m winked at and I like the profile I’ll wink (smile) back. Expecting the original winker to break the ice and start a message chat. If you delete winks that’s the same as not smiling back a that’s fine. Only if you delete just because it is a wink I’ll ask politely what the fudge are you even on here for ??

The absolute bullshit around the need to send long first messages for some unknown reason needs to stop. The first message is designed to be nothing more than an ice breaker. Trust you can send just as many Hi’s as you do long in depth messages quoting from a users profile or adding the nonsense of proving you’ve read by adding a “keyword” in the subject. They all get rejected as easy as each other. However Hi is a lot easier to write than the pathetic expectation of an essay. We are purely talking about indicating mutual attraction at the start. So wink away and anyone who discards winks I hope you grow up.

We look at winks, sometimes we wink back, often it goes no further than that. If we wink it means we're interested in finding out more, we don't know what other people mean when they do

It's a good way to show interest. I was chatting to someone before about it and came up with the idea of it as a matching tool. So in privacy settings you can turn messages of unless you have both winked and matched

Winks for us are of no interest whatsoever, it seems they've looked at your pics and shown no interest in our profile, for that reason we prefer messages with a pic.

I see it as a non intrusive way of showing interest, I love to get an occasional wink and always send a shortish message to see if the interest is there. It kind of lifts you in a way you sometimes need after days of silence even if it's not a serious interest wink. I love a wink and don't expect it will always lead to something. All winks greatfully recieved.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, if you’re going to wink at someone please have something worthwhile about yourself on your profile.

I see winks as a “hey, I like what I see on your profile, come and see if we match” which makes it a bit redundant if you just have “will fill in later” on your own

I use winks, I often check out the profiles I have received winks from,I take it as being like a cautious hi I might be interested but I don't see the point when the person has nothing on their profile though as it gives you nothing to go on

Dont see the point in them to be honest really means nothing to the user.

you can fab the pic saying loverly pics

If your interested then pm the person showing your real intentions.

Why should the winked at party pm you first just because of a wink

They mean to me, that someone is considerate.

They have shown an interest in my profile. They haven't sent a crap message, that I have to read and delete.

That's why I send them.

If I come across a profile that I like the look of, and notice they've winked me, I'm more likely to drop them a message

To me, it's just a polite way of showing interest. Kind of like smiling at someone in person I guess

a quandary, could you change my mind?

A wink on here i find the same as in real life. Its like a smile followed possibly by a toss of the hair. The way the person sits or the body language.

You can't see that on here so the wink button helps. Why wink rather than message, well it might be a sparse profile so you are unsure.

It is interesting reading everyone’s different views on this.

I am quite new here and maybe being a guy it is a little bit different but I definitely like to send a wink before messaging. If i’m going to spend time going through your profile sending a wink to see if there is mutual interest, before I write out a detailed message, is fair enough!

The only thing I will add though, why wink if you're 500 miles away? Never understood that
